Default STi head apart what should i do?

I searched but could not find good or at least recent opinions.
I got an 05 STi and I have it apart, heads taken off.

Im already $1000 in the hole for labor and no parts and I have about $1500 left to spent.
I need to maybe get a valve adjustment and new head gasket, and other misc things. What do you recommend I should do now?

Maybe clean pistons/valves? Got some decent carb build up.
port and polish head (expensive)?

Im pretty knowledgeable but no expert on internal engine modifications.
As I advised I only have maximum $1500 to spend thats all tax and labor and parts so everyone with experience, please chime in.

Thank you!

We have our vendor lists, a vendor review thread and forum and a search will reveal lots of info.

Head gasket, Head studs definitely. The rest of it depends on what your goal is. Power, Reliability?.

The best thing to probably do would be pistons/rings, as that is the weakest part in the motor.

Thank you, I am looking more for reliability than power.
I would like to use stock subaru OEM head gasket, but you recommend studs?
If so, which brands? and what is major benefit for stock motor and turbo.

Thank you again.

OEM Head gasket, and ARP Head studs. Many people i know don't like to re-use head studs. The benefit of the stronger pistons is, you are less likely to grenade them and turn the motor into scrap.

Are ARP head studs even needed if you arent making big power? I havent seen a single thread about these being a cause of failure.
