Angry 2013, Impreza 2.0i CVT, accidentally shifted Manuel for 10 miles, 60miles/hr, demage?

Please, I don't know much about Manuel shift. I have 2013, CVT but accidentally I shifted M instead of D and drove for 10 miles, speed 55-60mile/hr today. I knew something was wrong but I didn't realized it's M gear. Once I found out, I shifted D and it was OK. Now I am very upset that I did stupid mistake and worrying any damage done to my new car.

Your car is fine. The CVT is computerized and will kick in to keep you from doing anything truly stupid.

Drive it and enjoy your new car.

The only thing you hurt was your MPG average.

You have a guy named Manuel who shifts for you? Why don't you just buy an automatic instead of your manual transmission who you need a Latino guy to shift. Does Jose push in the clutch for you too?

Manuel? Oh, you must excuse him. He's from Barcelona.

1. Open up your users manual (not Manuel) for you car.

2. Read.

You can shift into manual at any point while you are driving. What you did was correct

I didnt know 1st gear could go to 60mph. Thanks for the experiment. lol

Ive done the same with my cvt, but i realized after about 15 seconds, while rpm hit 5K+ during a slow acceleration.

The worst thing that could happen is if youre still in break in period, rpms that high arent nice to your engine.

Im sure its fine, and either way youre under warranty.

Thank you all for saying that my car will be OK Some point it went 2nd gear (don't know when...) and RPM was around 4k-5k. Oh well, I learned something hard way... so far my car seems fine Thank you all!!!

Isn't all acceleration with the 2.0i slow acceleration? I had one ('13 2.0i 5 door) as a rental for 6 days. AWESOME gadgets but that was about it. Oh and being "stealth" was nice for a change.

It isn't so bad. This is my first Subaru, and my last car was a V6 Accord coupe that put out 240 hp. So yes, the Impreza is slower than that. But Between 1500-3500 rpm it accelerates decently. You mostly feel it once you're past 70 mph- it runs out of steam quickly. But the fuel efficiency is just silly good for a car with all wheel drive.

Did you drive it 10 miles with rpms around 4500? Didn't hear that? Just recently I was on the highway going about 65 in 4th gear. Went about 2 miles before moving to 5th. These things do happen.

The newer 08+ automatics will shift for you if youre near redline. My 4EAT does it to my dismay, it shifts right before I upshift it myself and it double up shifts. A little annoying but It would protect the tranny that way. no worries.
