Default 2010-2013 Remote Start Recall

For all of you that have remote start installed in your Subarus from 2010-2013, you may be getting a recall like I did for the transmitter fob. Here is the verbiage that in the recall:

"Subaru has determined that certain vehicles equipped with an optional Remote Engine Starter (RES) include remote transmitter fobs that could malfunction and cause the vehicle's engine to unexpectedly start."

The fix is to issue and reprogram a new fob. I received an email yesterday and a recall notice in the mail today. Just a heads up!

Yes, I received the same message. I have not received the piece of paper yet. I'll be contacting the dealer to find out what I need to do. Headed to New Hampshire on a motorcycle trip next week.

Went in this morning. It took them about 20 minutes to change the starter fobs and reprogram them. Be aware they disconnect the battery. I needed to reset the stuff in the hidden menu on the HU. No biggie, just sayin'. It was a one cup of coffee job.

Disconnect battery to replace the FOB? Must have wanted to delete the previous settings rather than program over them...

I don't know. They did need ALL the keys as well. Likely disconnecting the battery resets something to begin associating the starter fobs with the car. No biggie.
