Default After all that work the baja is wrecked.

After all my hard work, I hit black ice and severely damaged the baja. I'm fighting insurance still after 45 days. If it's not fixable I'm hoping to buy another or should I just move on. It kills me because the bull bar is still here on the floor brand new with a better powder coat.

Hey Steve, we all know your Baja was truly a "labor of love". Let the insurance company total it out, buy it for salvage value, keep it for parts and go find a nice turbo that you can start modding...and use what you can from your wrecked one.

I would also let the insurance company total it, and buy it back for salvage. You should be able to find a reasonably priced Baja (turbo or not) and you'll have a nice parts car

Good Luck

The sad thing is I'm under 75% to get it fixed but they still insist on totaling it out.. I'm just fighting to maximize value right now, buy it back as salvage and get it fixed. Well I'm having the body shop I trust take a look to see if it's fixable.

The nice thing is that because i'm under 75% by their own evaluation I get to keep a clean title, not salvage. It's the only bright spot in all this.

Side note it's not actually being auctioned I'm keeping it. I'm sure the guys in the yard were salivating when they saw the engine.

Looking at that front end it doesn't look too bad. The passenger tire does not look like it was pushed back so maybe the bottom end of the frame is not bent. Your car looks real clean so i would look around for someone who could repair your nice ride.

Just curious of any updates on whether you kept the car and parted it or just let the insurance have it.

I didn't I wonder if nasioc got a nasty gram because i direct linked them, the post is gone

Update CCC is a gigantic scam. I could literally write pages on this experience. They used a chevy dealer to price quote the baja. I sent in a comparable quote for 2k more form a subaru dealer who knows the value. The get back to me.. yea how's 12.29 more sound. Eat a bag of dicks.

However I did get to keep a clean title. In NY if the value to repair is 75% or less and salvage is grater than 1100. You get to keep your title clean otherwise it's salvage and 500$ to re-register.

Well, if you decide not to fix it, let us know. I'm in the process of looking for a 5 speed transmission right now, and I've got enough little tidbits to replace that are Baja only (those plastic bits that secure the trim on the outside of the bed; the plastic trim on the bed's reinforcement bar on the driver's side, etc). The list goes on and on and on.
