That thing would look sweet with a big G*S logo painted on it.

Wait so you have an sti motor in a Forrester xt? What auto trans is in it, the 4 speed? Call me a blasphemer but I kind of wish my wrx has an auto, just because traffic is so bad around here. I am surrounded by a sea of traffic lights and careless drivers

an "STI Motor" basically consists of cams, vf39, and red intake manifold. the 04/05 Forester XT came with identical specs to the 2004 sti motor internally.

You can put a vf39 and an 04 sti ecu on an 04 forester, and its an sti. (minus the transmission)

I just put a New 2013 shortblock, fresh heads w/ lower mileage sti cams, and a new vf39 in my forester. Its baasically a stock forester long block setup.

But yea... the transmission is awesome for a daily, not with stock power.. but with this power it is

Im interested to see if that Grimmspeed TMIC would fit my 04 FXTI. Currently running a 08+ sti tmic. During my build process I removed the subframe spacers for better geometry etc. I also have a SPT strut tower brace.

Im really interested to find out if I would have any rubbing issues do the the strut tower brace, and the engine being raise aprox 1 1/4"????

I know this is a big issue for forester folks that are removing the subframe spacers and a Strut tower brace.

Ian,
yes it will fit, might rubb your strut bar, but you AC Lines should be running it to. I was arunning a 08 sti tmic prior to this as well.

A strut tower bar does not really do much on subarus because the strut towers are already on the firewall.

And... the grimmspeed TMIC should be on the market Possibly Monday.

Can't wait to see details! Hopefully one of the test mules was a stage 2 ej205 WRX. I am sure it will be quality, just hope I can swing the cha-ching, if you know what I mean

I think everyone will be able to afford this. Surpassing ProcessWest in Quality and making killer power!

Do you happen to know if they will offer a GB? Edit. Nevermind I see it on their site.

If it is a good bit cheaper than PW then I am totally there! Would love to see what people are getting by just upgrading the TMIC and then with a tune.

I will be looking for a GB as well.

So about the same as PW (900 w/ y-pope and splitter) and TurboXS (750 with y-pipe)

I guess so. If they can get the splitter and y-pipe way down then it would be serious comp. The tests they ran were on a 2.0 and gave quality info but to actually compete with PW might be a stretch. If someone was just looking for a intercooler and really liked G/S then sure why not. I dont remember exact dimensions but I do remember thinking that "hey that'll fit all subarus without issue". My sights are still on the PW but if they get a kick ass GB going then I'm all ears.

Thanks, I agree with the strut tower brace too a extent. When you have upgraded every bushing and theres not a stock suspension part on the car so there is no bushing slop the, load has to go somewhere. Also depends on how sticky of tires you have and if your actually beating on the car. "Autox, trackdays etc "For the average modded car, it will make next too no difference.

Now Fender braces are a different story...

Are you going off the PW being thicker core? Because the Grimmspeed core might physically be kid of skinny in comparison, but the density of the fins (I think that's it) is where the heat dissipation is and the smaller more efficient core allows for better spool and throttle response. You might not want to run a 35r on this intercooler, but then again, you might want to!

For what it's worth, PW appears to advertise a 3.5" thick core. Ours is 3.75" thick and you'll find that it's a very dense core. It's also worth mentioning that we didn't design our core based on the size/design of competitor cores. We started with a blank slate and designed a core that would work best for the space available and the intended application. We have a few guys shooting for well north of 500whp in the coming weeks, so you won't have to wait long to see how other people like it.

I retract my previous premature opinion. Data looks good, IC looks good and well thought out overall. I especially like the fact that its made in the U.S by well known subaru enthusiast. I would have been on the list if I didn't recently find out how much my wife's school loans amount too Luckily the parts can be bought separately and relieve some of my "add to cart" anxiety. Oh nice touch on the thermal dispersant coating as I had planned on the PW and then shipping it to swain tech(more time, more money) for their BBE coating.

I just figured the PW Core was 4" or more, like everyone else on the market. Guess I should go look it up before I comment next time. lol.
