You can remove the rail dust with wax or either using the clay bar. You just have to be patient.

I had some nasty one but they are gone.

What is rail dust? And where does it comes from? I stopped by the dealership and spoke with the Service Technician. He said they would clay bar to take out the impurities of the paint. My husband said it's make it worse. What is your point of view?

I've not heard of rail dust before. But both my Subarus came almost straight off the truck. Both with 7ish miles. Both came with a lot of fine brown particles in every crevice of the car. Not on the interiors. But the bodies and engine bays. I'm still cleaning it off the XV.
The closest thing I've seen is the plasma dust that gets filtered and disposed of at work. Its the finest dust I have ever seen. Nasty stuff.
Is this brown crap rail dust? Or is it fukushima fallout?

Thank you. Thank you. Much appreciated. It's exactly what is on my car comparing my pictures some images that I researched. The dealership said they would clay bar the car however I've not heard any call back from them. It's now a week when someone would call to set a appointment to have it done. I also informed corporate. The representative told me they have a procedure they have to follow before it can be done. I'm very concerned.

I use water as a lubricant for the clay. No need to use the special lubricant wax cleaner, keep it for paint retouch & birds poo. Just be sure to wax after claying the car.

Rail dust will again stick back on the car with time anyway.

White car need special attention, but if you keep it clean it look much much better.

So, is your dealer taking care of this at no cost to you?
