Default Hail Damage on 2013 WRX

First of I have 2013 WRX Ice Silver that I got on march 18. Little over a month old and this happens.
Last night on the way home from dinner with my family a hail storm started up. I pulled into a gas station but all the pumps already had cars parked so I was left sitting in the open while my car got pounded. Ten minutes later it was over. I left the station and went home. Since it was dark and wet I could not see the damage so I turned in.
This morning I get up and went out to see the damage. To my horror the entire roof, hood and both quarter panels had hail damage all over. So now I am waiting on insurance to come out and assess the damage.
Part of me is like it will be fine and the other part is like I hate this car I want a new one. I guess I will see what USAA says.

Who you callin' asses?

And it will be fine. That's what insurance is for, to fix boo-boos like this.

Forgetaboutit. Let insurance take care of it. Everything's going to be okay. One thing I learned really early on is that your car isn't going to stay perfect. I had over $4k in hail damage inflicted on my car....the second day of ownership. I took my car into a shop, paid my insurance deductible, and went on my merry way with my car looking as good as new.

Spelling assess incorrectly makes asses out of you and me.

Or something like that.

If it makes you feel any better...

(about 20 telephone poles went down during a storm, I took 3 of the big transmission lines to the roof, quarter, mirror, and a-pillar).

Feel free to scroll through that album. New roof, new quarter, basically 2/3 repaint... You'd be amazed how nice they can turn out.

It's still my car, and still has the same "soul," if you will. I'm not sure I would trade it for a new one, honestly.

Car had 5000 miles on it.

It'll be ok.

There ya go, OP. Jayp5150's misfortune is your gain. Use the grief he felt to feel better about your situation. Point your finger at him and laugh if you need to. Your well being is much more important than his. He really isn't liked here very much and you are.

Did I go too far, Jayp5150?

Thanks for the replies. Still waiting on USAA. Drove it to the store today, kills me to look at it but I love the car. Go figure I had my 04 WRX for years with no problems. I guess that's how it goes but I still like driving the car.

Come on out to Cali, fusion1976. Arnold passed a law banning hail years ago. If we have more than three clouds in the sky at once, all sorts of alarms and red flags go up.

Ahahaha. Leave it to Arnold to ban mother nature!

OP get a quote to replace the hood and roof for carbon fiber replacements.
When one door closes another opens!

No cover at the gas station? I would have spread out my clothes over my car to lessen the blow then draped rest of my naked body over the rest. Obama may have put national health care/insurance into effect but no national auto care/insurance.

Or move to Southern California

Clearly, the gas station was at fault. Sue them!

If anyone at the gas station wasn't actually refueling, you should've pushed them out of the way ("Sorry. It looked like your battery was dead and I figured you needed a push-start." )

If you had a CCW this would have never happened.

Default Car in shop.

So my car is in the shop getting the hail damage popped out. Insurance paid
$2500 to fix it.
In the meantime I am driving a rental Kia Forte, what a piece of ****. I thought the WRX interior was cheap, Forte has it beat by a mile. One nice touch it does have is power folding mirrors, but that is all I like about it.
Anyways will post how the WRX comes out. The guys doing the work got great reviews and a A+ at the Better Business Bureau. They are promising the car will look good as new when they are finished. Fingers crossed

My bf had the same repair back in 2008. They replaced the hood & did paintless dent removal everywhere else... About 50 in all. The PDR system works amazing! You can't even tell he had it done, and he's very particular about his car.
