Default I wanna be a baller, shot caller 20 inch blades on de impalaaa

hello all, i recently bought a 1998 Subaru impreza OBS with the 2.2L engine.

the previous owner pretty much let the car go, there's rust on the rear fenders and the bottom of the hood is rusting out, also rust on the side skurts and a little rust on the top of the car by the windsheild and the roof rack area.

the car has 160k on it with the original battery from 1998 and the timing belt has not been replaced and as far as i'm concerned the spark plugs and fuel filter have never been replaced.

the engine seems fine though i drove it cross country in the middle of jan. from chicago to Gunnison Colorado.. elev 7,900 feet. and she still hasnt quit on me.

i recently got some money and i want to restore the car, as well as put on some little mods to it. i'm having a lot of trouble finding vendors.

here's what i'm thinking :
first i'm going to due all the maintenance that has been overlooked
timing belt, water pulley, tensioner, spark plugs (what gap??), trans fluid change, oil change and the fuel filter.

mods
maybe new springs and struts, but the stock feel nice right now i would only want to go a bit stiffer, - also have no clue as to where i can find these parts

prodrive round tip axleback - where can i find one?

strut bars- where can i find them cheap?

20mm sway bar- found on subarugenuine parts.com (they say it will fit)

borla replica headers?, - not sure if they will fit my car because im not sure if its duel port or single port or (uel) or (el)

(i can live without the headers just thought it would make the car sound a bit more throaty )

some nice aftermarket JDM looking rims, with awesome snow tires. - also have no idea where to look for these?

finally after all that, i want to get a paint job, a nice gloss white, and blacken out the black plastics that have faded with time.

also question about paint is that rust going to come back if i pant over it, or should i get the main spots fixed?

i love the new ride and im excited to bring her back to life so please help meh out!

You will spend more on paint and body work than it will cost to just buy a decent car. Keep this one as a DD, buy a better car to start as a project.

While I didnt read the post I just wanted to make sure you didnt put 20" blades on the Imprezaaaa

I do appreciate the Lil Troy reference not many get that on these forums but I rocked with Short Stop for a time back in the 90's lol.

You'll want to look at the plate on the driver's front strut tower to confirm your engine. You'll have either an EJ22E, or an EJ222. The 222 is considered a phase 2 and has better heads, but parts are harder to find and most of the time you get sent phase 1 parts if you order online. Ask me how I know...

Plugs: NGK BKR7E11. $2 a pop, pre gapped.
Oil: Bosch 3310 filter and some Rotella T. My OBS loves Rotella T, and it's cheap!
Fuel: Whatever the parts store has, Bosch is preferable though.
Tranny: Didn't mention if it's 5 speed or not, but run "Scotty's Cocktail" if it's 5 speed. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=920674

KYB Excel G struts with used 04 STi springs is what I'm running. Just need to find a set of rear strut tophats from a 90-91 Legacy wagon (junkyard) Otherwise run the KYBs with some Tanabe GF210 springs.

Looks for the exhaust on rs25

Strut bars: Either eBay or rs25. You either get the eBay style which are all pretty much the same, or some very pricey good ones.

Sway bar(s): Get a WRX sedan RSB and leave the front stock.

Headers: You're single port, so: www.infernofab.com

Rims: Look on here. I'm not sure what "JDM looking" implies.

Rust will come back. I would advise against spending much money in that area, but if you do, go plastidip.

I love mine and are starting to put away money for upgrades (then the damn carrier bearing? went out on front passenger side) but it only has 84k miles so i figure it will be around for a while with good maintenance.
