Default Stg 1 vs 2 at EQ this week???

I currently have the Cobb OTS stg 1 map and a CBE on my STI. Dropping her off Thursday at EQ tuning for a hallman mbc and a protune. Being its Saturday and I am bored, I can't help but wonder if I can scrape enough dough together for a down pipe (and labor) to go stage 2...

Or should I just wait and enjoy the protune hp bump and go stage 2 later when I have more play money... (But have to tune the at twice)
Basically, is the jump really really worth it, or will I be happy with the bump from the stg 1 protune over the oTS tune?

You will be happy with the bump in power, but the difference from stock downpipe to aftermarket is a lot. I would get a downpipe ASAP. You can do the install yourself it isn't that hard. When I had my wrx I went from stock with a tune (from Ed) to catback up pipe with a tune and ultimately with the downpipe. I wish I went from A to Z rather than a b c etc. do it right the first time and learn from my mistakes.

I think I am going to wait until I have time enough to wrap the dp in dei heat wrap. Unless I could find a dp in stock some where Monday or Tuesday, get it wrapped and ready for EQ by Thursday...

Ge the downpipe don't worry about the wrap. I didn't think the wrap for your downpipe will make that big a difference.

Alright. Picked up the dp on weds and wrapped it. Eq did the install of that, the Hallman boost controller, fuel line mod and an AEM intake. Up on the dyno'd for a tune and it came back at 27x whp (cant remeber if it was 272, 274 or 279) and 299 wtq.

Took it for a leisurely commute on a freeway littered with CHP...

Boy, the sound with that new down pipe is amazing. I would have done it just for that. Nice too because it only gets loud when you hammer on it. The AEM on the other hand, the wife will definitely notice that. Oh well. Ill tell her I bought it in a moment of weakness.

Car is a lot zippier. Nice. Haven't had a chance to really flog on it to see what it will do.

Got 25 mpg on the freeway (~400 miles) and 23 mpg (~225 miles) city driving. That's a huge improvement over the 19/22 I was getting stg 1...

Sadly I am getting used to the power and am looking into the next steps...

E85! Larger injectors and a retune alone should net you around the 320whp mark. I'll be going to EQ sometime later on in the year once I acquire all my parts.

If E85 was in more spots I'd do that for sure. But I'm talking to an engine shop about a build so I can run a larger turbo and a boat load more fuel...
$$ wise though it probably won't happen until the end of the year...

Alright... Im starting to get used to Stg 2. Time to start planning the next steps... Heads? Short block and bigger turbo? Header, larger inter cooler and injectors...

If pistons are the weak link, then they will have to be my next step...
