I actually did attempt to do that but the car wasnt outside so im assuming the owner didnt drive the car.

but you have since brought the keys back to acme, right?!?!?!? Since the owner probably called and asked for them the next morning and all....

You're heart is in the right place, however, at this point the chances of finding the owner is VERY low if they were taken away from the 'point of loss'. The owner has probably called Acme and they told him "no, we dont have anything". They crossed Acme off of the list of possible places to find them.

It is safe to assume the owner has chalked them up to being gone and moved on with their life.

I'm just throwing out ideas here, so I don't know if this will work, but...

Call a dealer and see if they can read the RFID tag in the key. They MIGHT be able to match up the RFID number with a VIN, then in turn, match the VIN to an owner.

Long shot, but who knows...
