How are some of you placing orders or "pre-orders" when you don't know what the 2014 models will even look like or what colors will be available? Or am I missing something here?

You can work out the details once that information is released.

Pre orders only buy you a spot in line, not a specific car.

Worse case scenario, the model change ends up happening this year, the car looks like ass, and I back out. I've waited 5 years, I can wait another one to find either a good used GR or a hawkeye, or to see what else comes up.

There will be ZERO difference between the 2013 and 2014.

2015 the model year will change... This is not hear say... It is a fact.

Contrary to everything else Subaru has stated (including a 2014 WRX concept at last years auto shows), and would also mean deviating from their 5 year facelifts.

We'll have to wait and see.

This is week 3 for me. Kelsey has had her new Impreza Sport Premium for a week now. It has no balls whatsoever, but 34mpg is pretty cool...

It appears, according to the info at http://www.donlen.com/buildstart-subaru.aspx, that SOA's initial order acceptance date for the 2014 BRZ, Impreza, and XV Crosstrek (non-hybrid) is 06/24/2013. I suspect that is also the date for the 2014 WRX and STI models, too. But the initial delivery month for those 2014 cars is shown as 10/01/2013.

WOW... Way to really kill the mood!!! haha. BUT, we can't go by the Impreza date as the current Imprezas are no the the same body style as the current WRX/STI's. This gives me some hope as I've had an order in since 4/22/13, and have an appealing offer on my "trade-in" '07 Wrangler 4door. My mechanic wants it more than anything else in the world, and is willing to wait. But if I tell him earliest October.... the offer may become a lot less appealing. I'm hoping for a late July or Early August order date, and a late August or early September delivery date. I'm not sure I can wait that long let alone October+. I'll be driving my new WRX from upstate NY to Charleston SC, after Christmas for my brothers wedding and would like to have it broken in by then. 997 Miles one way. (I guess it wouldn't be bad breaking it in all in one drive though HAHAHA!)

It actually is bad. When breaking in the car, you do not want to stay at the same speed and around the same rpm's for long periods of time.

I was raised in Charleston. You'll have a blast. Amazing food everywhere. If you like sushi check out Oku. There's a new bad ass rooftop bar called Stars as well to check out.

What is the weather like in December? His wedding is just after Christmas. And I have nothing to compare it with as our weather in upstate NY is feet of snow and single digit temps! Hoping it is nothing like that!

Why are you guys so excited about ordering an end of production/current generation car? Whatever you pay today will be heavily discounted in the winter/spring 2014 once the new generation is revealed. The cars in camo are already driving around.
And the re-sale value will decrease...

Well, I like the GR body style for one. Two, I plan on keeping this car for a long time, so prospective resale value is a semi-moot point. I get what you're saying though.

how about this one... Why are people so excited to buy a new untested vehicle with possible issues (2015). the re-sale of that car will be low if known issues arise as well as when the next body style comes into fruition after it. it's the circle of life but as for me... I've been driving around the first of the new body style model year jeep and it's been nothing but issues. my fiance has a new tested Model year wrangler and it's amazing with zero issues. You tell me who made the smarter decision in a little over a year from now.

How about, wait a few months and buy a GR for much less? Im not saying everyone should wait and buy the new model, just that you are overpaying by buying a GR so close to the release of a new gen. I would not do it.

Brisk weather but not rainy or anything. Generally clear skies. Avg day temp is in the 40-50's and night in low to high 30's. nothing a New Yorker couldn't handle. I warn you though, you may not want to leave.

hahaha... Well I love having winter weather so that'll will be a reason to leave. we are also coming back just in time for new years eve with friends and family here in NY, so that will make it a little easier! I live just outside the city of Rochester, and actually love it here! i wouldn't have it any other way unless work takes me elsewhere. as I actually love my job, only slightly more then i love my city!!!

Hi
I will be following this thread as I wasnt able to order back in April. So I hope that there will be another chance to order before the redesign.
Out of all the 5 dealers I talked to, only one told me that the current design would carry over into the first part of 2014. The rest of the dealers were not really sure on what was going to happen.

Any new news on when the 2014 orders will be taken? July is coming quickly(my sales women hinted at mid-end of July.) But who knows if she is correct or just guessing?!?!

Been at dealerships trying to scoop up a good deal on a lightly used 2012 or a new 2013, but i can't find what i want. Seems that it's just better to wait for the 2014 -- dealerships around here (Philly/KOP area) are also saying that there is no body change for 2014. If you're picky -- you're better to order exactly what you want.

If donlen is accurate, apparently the order acceptance date is estimated to start on the first of July for the 2014 moderls of the WRX/STI.
