Wow - just stumbled on this thread.

Quote:
Dear Paul,

Thank you for contacting Subaru of America, Inc.

We appreciate you taking the time to email us regarding the arrival of your WRX. I see that you have placed your order with Eastside Subaru. Our computer system does show that delivery is estimated in January. I understand that waiting for this order to arrive can be difficult. If the timeframe is a problem, please speak with the Sales manager to see if any alternative solutions are available to you. I know that we are working hard to keep up with production of this vehicle. If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Kelly Shinault
Subaru of America, Inc.
I ordered a white limited hatch 9/7. I'm going nuts waiting, but at least I read this thread.

I had a order but couldn't wait. I basically just had a dealer match the price lol. 32885 for sti sedan with short shifter before fees.

You guys should try this out. It was also the last day of the month. The guy was desperate.

It happens. Someone from work heard I ordered the limited WRX hatch, they went to a different dealer, used the Costco program and paid $600 over invoice and drove away. Silver base WRX. Just last weekend.

That estimate seems really short. I'm on my 12th week. Due January.

I hope you find out it's coming soon!

Im getting depressed, I see guys that ordered after I did and already have VIN's and ETA dates. I ordered on 9/16 in Merrilville IN and havent heard a word out of the dealer on anything not even a VON. I even bought a brand new set of BBS goodies from them. Ive seen a bunch of Chicago guys already getting their VIN's and ETA's that ordered right at the same time I did...

A lot of us ordered earlier and are still waiting so don't feel bad. I ordered 8/19 and it said eta with vin 11/12. Well 11/12 rolled around then it said I was issued a different VIN and it now has an ETA of 12/02! Guys that ordered after May have got an allocated unit too.

You should have a VON right away though that's kind of weird.

Well as it turns out, I got a call this morning from my sales guy and apparently well in the process of re-tooling the factory for the upcoming 2015 STi Subaru cut production on the 2014 and so although my car was on the assembly line being built, they turned MY car into a dealer allocation car and basicly told me I was SOL. WTF??!!! Thats how I woke up this morning was a call telling me the car i ordered is going to someone else They tried to sell me on a hatchback that they could get out of california instead but I said no. I wanted a sedan hence why I freaking ordered a sedan.

Ok so interesting developments in this whole getting shafted by the 2015 STi story. Dealer calls me back a couple hours ago and says they called in a favor from another dealer and can get me a 2014 STi that spec wise/option wise is identical to the one I had ordered with the exceptions being that this one will come with side body moldings, an STi shift knob and no SPT cat back but that they can install an SPT exhaust when the car arrives for me. After some negotiating and frustration on both ends, Im gonna end up with a 2014 STi sedan in silver now instead of black but otherwise pretty much the same. Im currently deciding if Im gonna keep the gold bbs wheels I had the dealer order for me or send those back and just go buy some silver ones on my own for roughly 3,600 bucks less. Should be a no brainer

Play hard ball. Walk away from the deal. I promise you, they will call you back. They want it more than you. You shouldn't have to pay $400 for THEIR mistake. Think about it!!! They screwed up, yet they have the nerve to make you pay for it! No way man! Stiff arm them. They will budge.

Believe it or not I tried that and actually told them no bc for one, I hate silver, for 2, I hate the dumb side moldings and 3 no way was I paying for crap I dont want. I actually shook the sales guys hand and got up to walk out, got to my car turned the lights on and literally started driving off the lot, got home and no phone call so I panicked and went back and took the deal Dont worry you guys can all start the flaming now bc I already know I got shafted pretty bad but I need a new car and wasnt buyinng anything else, Ive been waiting years to buy my first STi although I will say this buying experience totally made me lose a lot of Love Ive had for Subaru in all the years Ive owned them. Subarus are the only cars Ive had since 2006 and Im the brands biggest ambassador believe me but this is the first time Ive had to deal with buying a brand new one from a dealer and very well may be the last

As much as your situation absolutely sucks, you're not crazy to take the deal. And here's why:

Orders are closed and there's a limited number of these vehicles. It would be different if ordering was still open and you could simply order from another dealer. It would also be different if this wasn't the last year for this version of the model. The reality is, we all know these vehicles sell easily. Dealers know that as well.

However, I'm not necessarily saying you should take the deal...especially since you hate the color. My best advice to you...search dealers around you. Since I placed my order at the end of August, I've searched all dealers within a 6 hour radius just as a contingency should something crazy happen. For me, a 6 hour drive to get the car that either is exactly what I want or close to it is far better than settling for something I really didn't want. Even if it meant paying a little more, at least I'd be getting the car I wanted.

You're going to be paying 30k - 40k. That's no joke. DON'T SETTLE!!!!!
