Default Oh these crappy speakers

7,500 miles in and my front passenger door speaker is already popping under bass. And I don't listen louder than 30-32.

Also I don't think the dealer cares, as they're calling it a wear n tear item.

"Wear and Tear" items are replaceable under the standard warranty - mostly one time. Contact SOA if the dealer does not accept this.

36 months / 36,000 miles (Basic Warranty) - 100k is outside of that, so no. If the brakes wear out during the basic warranty period, they will replace them, same with wipers, rotors, etc... Tires, on the other hand are covered by the tire company and not Subaru (or most other car companies) - you should have received separate paperwork for the tires when you took delivery of the car (look in your glove box).

Doesn't anybody read their owners' manual anymore?

You might have a road hazard deal from Subaru for the tires separate from the tire warranty.

You will be replacing the OEM tires at 30,000 miles.

I have to turn mine up to at least 30 to hear the music over all the noise the car makes.

I find that 11 is already obnoxiously loud for me. I wonder if you're all using a different setup than I am...?

Just get better speakers. They are complete trash anyway. Subaru went cheap somewhere to sell the car like it does and obviously, that's where. Get better speakers, you wont regret it.

I typically run 15-20 depending on the song coming off of my ipod. I'm not finding the stock setup to be that bad. And I agree 30+ is loud. It is however, entirely possible my loud music days are behind me.

I would actually be interested in any recommendations for drop in replacements - most of the guys who give advice on audio tend to be very much INTO the audio, and with all due respect, I dont want to do anything other than replace the tinny sounding cardboard speakers that came with the car (ok, maybe they're not but they sound like tin and cardboard). I don't want to just mix any match - I want better speakers that bolt in in stock locations. Any thoughts?

+1. They're great, but they do take a bit of effort to install.

I rarely play the head unit louder than 28 (usually at 16-24), and that's with the rears shut off, EQ and loudness turned off, and bass at 0. The 6501s are comfortable at that power level, but the head unit doesn't have much left in reserve.

If you're listening at 30-32 with the default rollercoaster EQ, I'm surprised the speakers lasted as long as they did.

If you don't want to drill holes, chop off connectors or route wires, the Kicker pieces are it.

If you want plug and play, get the upgraded Subaru speakers. Made by Kicker. Much better than stock, fit right in, proper connector, blah, blah.

I put them in my car. The sound pretty decent. As chincy as the originals were, I am surprised they sounded as good as they did!

Change out the head unit for a higher power one. The speakers aren't horrible. Maybe put some raammat in the doors

I swapped the stock unit for the one with the color screen, night and day difference, bit I also have an alpine ktp445 amp, rammat and mlv in all my doors. It sounds pretty dang good and the bluetooth is much better too!

Maybe different settings, I have my eq curves on hu turned down to keep distprtion to a minimum... and I operate LOUD machinery all day. I cant even hear music till its turned up to twenty something
This car needs the same treatment my CRX got. lots of cans of stinger roadkill and some dynamat. Also a good undercoating would help. I'll soumd deaden it before I even bother with stereo gear upgrades.

I have the color screen version (non-nav.) and I also have to listen at about 30. In my case it is probably do to the gain on the majority of my MP3s, as there are a few, out of several hundred, that force me to turn down the volume.

I have my EQ set to "through".

The stock head units are underpowered. I'd like to install an amp similar to the one flyboy1100 used, although I think he said that his volume control is super sensitive now and gets loud in a hurry.

My Polk db651 speakers that have been sitting around since before Christmas go in next week!
