5W-30 or 10W-30 for Denver area?

Which weight of oil should I use? The manual recommends 5W-30 year round except in very hot climates. I will change to Synthetics on my next oil change and wanted to get an idea on what weight oil locals (Denver) were using due to our unique climate.

Given it is fall and we are moving into winter, I'd go with the 5W-30 given the choices you gave. Your starter motor will love you if we have a severe cold snap in late January.

I don't know how much time you spend up in the mountains in the winter time, but if you do, I would even consider one of the 0w weight oils.

Since I started running the lighter weight synthetic oils I have not had to replace a starter motor on any of my cars for over 15 years.

I use 5w-30 year round. I tried 10w-30 a few years back and when it gets really cold then engine does seem to act a bit "funny" untill it warms up. Durring the rest of the year 10w-30 is fine though.
