Default Transponder Key

So I need to get a couple new keys since mine only came with 1 when I bought it. One will be for a spare key, and another will be for a transponder for the remote start.

Local dealer is overpriced on their parts, so I've been looking around online. Does anybody know if there is a difference in the keys between 08-10 and 11+? Keys look the same, but I'm not sure if there's a difference with the transponder chip.

Thanks

I'm not entirely sure on the keys, but I know the remotes are completely different. Either way, I'd just get the right part for your car, even if it's a bit more expensive... You'll likely be out more than you'd save if for whatever reason you got the keys cut, and brought them to the dealer for programming only to find out that they can't do it (they'll charge you for it anyway)...

Also just in case, don't buy used keys with the expectation of using the transponders, once the transponder chip is paired to a car it can't be used again.

Well....come to find out it is a different transponder chip in the keys. After doing some digging around online I was able to find out 11+ has a higher security transponder chip. Luckily, the dealer didn't charge me anything for "attempting" to flash the keys. And Subaru had sent me to their sister Chevy dealership to have the keys cut....which thankfully also didn't charge me anything. So in the end, I'm only out $30.

Oh...and the local Subaru wants $80 for the key blank, and $45 to flash the transponder chips. So $125 a key.
