Default Decent Detailing Service?

Hey guys,

Since I BRILLIANTLY chose to get a BLACK Subaru STi, it's starting to look like crap due to the swirl build up. Just seeing if anyone has had any experience with any local detailers that have reasonable rates. I know Autowerkes does great work over in Maple Ridge, but I don't think I need to go to that level of paint correction on my 1 year-old car (or so I hope).

Was checking Revscene and saw mention of this guy:
http://leethedetailer.webs.com/

And saw he detailed one of our member's cars (I think it's Brian/Belaud if my memory of his license plate # is correct).

Anyone else have him do any work or know of any other reliable local details?

It's summer so definitely time to get my baby back into good shape.

Also, my pressure washer broke down so trying to avoid washing her myself :P

Back on topic, I wouldn't mind reading other members' recommendations for detailing services as well. There's been a lot of road grime that's stuck to my car, and as I don't have the time or space to do my own car washing, I'd like to get it done professionally. No-touch car washes at the Chevron are great for convenience, but there's nothing like a properly applied layer of wax and polish.

Just visited their page... not sure if I'm the right type of client that they're looking to service. I just drive a lowly econobox Impreza...

But thanks for the suggestion. I'll probably go check them out anyways.

I bought that groupon and went last year - they did an ok job. wasn't fantastic. however, what didn't make sense was: I bought the most expensive package - was suppose to include hand-wax and polish but it wasn't until we got there to redeem our groupon when they said "the person who put up the groupon made a mistake and it's not part of the deal" and started to up-sell my friend and I.

That detailing place has also undergone different names in the past year - every time I see a car detailing groupon that comes up, it's the same place/location. (eg. my groupon was for "Exclusive Mobile Detailing" and the groupon available now is "West Central Valley"). makes me think :S

Definitely give Project Detail a look. Did a great job on both my brother's Evo X and my father's MDX before he put it up for sale.

For Project Detail - his pictures look awesome and the good feedback makes it sound like the right place to go.
Looks like I need a:
Paint Correction Detail I - $375

A similar service though from Lee is $139. Has anyone else gotten work done by Lee? Pretty big price gap.

And Brian, I only remember because he has pics

+1!

Man, I'm glad this thread popped up, because I have to deal with the scratches caused by this:

Stupid kids... the clear coat is totally scratched up, I can still read most of it despite a few washes.

Ok, you've definitely got more road grime on your car than I have on mine.

Sucks though. I guess kids (being kids) won't fess up to their handiwork?

lol... it's not always that filthy! That was after Tbird TSD.

No one fessed up, and there are too many Owens in the school to bother spending the energy trying to scare them into telling the truth. Besides which, any Owen with two brain cells to rub together can claim his friends did it as a prank and used his name...

That's true. I know that at that age, I'd probably use the same excuse.

Ah, seeing the dirt on your car takes me a bit down memory lane. The only time my ol' Integra ever got that dirty was when I went to a friend's ranch near Clinton, BC, and drove down a dirt road for a few miles. It had rained just before I arrived, so the mud was sticking quite nicely to my car. The paint code was "Midnight Black"; it was definitely looking closer to dusty grey by the end of the trip. I thought taking it through the wash would be the end of that.

Fast forward to the following month when I took my car in for servicing. The Acura service agent (he's now a real estate agent - nice fellow) asked me if there were any issues with the car, which was one of their standard questions. I explained that for some reason, at or about 80 km/hr, I was getting a strange vibration and wobble coming from the undercarriage. He told me he'd look into it.

When I picked up my car, the first questions that was asked of me were: "Do you live on a dirt road? Somewhere where there's a lot of mud?"
Apparently, the dirt and mud had caked in the wheels, and the car wash did absolutely nothing in cleaning it out.

I'd give Ultrashine on W.2nd Vancouver a try. Friendly service, good wash, good price and always see high-end vehicles for detailing on the other side of the curtain.

I see pretty good reviews for Ultra Shine. I'll probably check them out or give Lee a call.

Cheers guys!

They're really good guys and I'm confident they'll treat you right. You can tell Schpend (one of the two co-owner brothers) that a fleet administrator from health Canada referred you. They're relatively new but through word they're getting noticeably busier.

Hope their work on your black STI meets your expectations.

I emailed both with the photos posted above. Both responded, but Project Detail was much closer to home (Vancouver) and demonstrated excellent communication skills, so I went with him.

He did an amazing job. "Owen" is no longer to be found on my car, nor any trace of the former mud graffiti. The paint is so sparkly it's distracting.
