Default Damaged diff, usable?

I picked up a 02 wrx rear diff a couple days ago. When I opened it up I found this..

Obviously I have some concern for the damaged spider gear tooth. I figured i'd get some opinion before I ask the guy for my money back. My essential question is, would you keep it. Is this going to be a real problem? And is there anywhere I can buy the replacement spider gears? I cringe when thinking of asking a dealership.

Thanks for any advice!

looking at the pic of yours i'm guessing this one has a few miles left in it. It seems like you have a noise but still have drivability.

Accept the piece that goes up and down right above the damaged teeth is not scored like yours is. Yours has two lighter lines around it that indicate additional wear.

Was it stupid cheap and/or are you in a bind for a daily driver?

Usable? Yeah...

Desirable? Not really. There's significant ring gear wear showing too.

You paid $200 for a used viscous-type limited slip rear? You know you can get those out of 2000+ Legacy Outbacks with the winter package (heated mirrors and windshield) for way cheaper at a junkyard right? If it has a manual trans it will already be 4.11 so you don't have to mess with the gears.
