I tried registering as well - no luck. That's one way to AVOID breaking the record(s): closing registration days before the event...

you have to submit the last 8 of your VIN and they'll have a Guinness World Records judge there. I'm sure it has something to do with them verifying legitimacy of vehicles and such, instead of having random people show up. Maybe they dont want to go over 500 so they can do it again in a few years, beat the old record, and get more publicity. Didn't this event already happen a few years ago with a lower vehicle count?

It happened back in 2009 and I think the number was in the 300's. Then later I think someone else did it with 400something. I am guessing they reached the 500 limit. I got an email yesterday that it was still open. I don't know why they don't let as many as possible, unless like said they want to be able to do it again, or maybe there is no room for 500+ vehicles. I don't recall any limit the first time.

Bring it out! I'm sure there will be a massive parking lot of 500+ Subarus before and after the whole parade deal. Some people will be sticking around for Itasca-Fest thing too. I say, come out anyways. I was planning on it even if I didn't sign up. I'm sure the event will make for some cool pictures.

I wonder what they will do if people show up that did not register? This is to break a record after all, will they say no you can't come in? If you got nothing better to do and your not driving 10000 miles to get there, show up and see what happens. It's suppose to be a nice summer day. It's a good excuse to go for a cruise. Traffic should not be bad early on a Saturday morning. Worst case they tell you to go home.

Does anyone know if they actually maxed out registration or if they just closed it?
It would be really cool if they had a rep here on Nasioc. If there is one, my bad, didn't see you there

It's so close, but I'm not able to go... Have fun for those of you heading out. Maybe I'll drive by later to see if anyone is lingering around after.

Nice turn out. I actually expected more. Maybe next time they try they will give an earlier notice.

I still think they should have stated that they would take additional walk-in registrations on the day of the event. Plus, it was so early in the morning... I know a couple people missed it because of the time alone... oh well.

So lets see if you actually broke the record this time. Sure you may had enough cars, but I saw some big gaps in the pictures.

They still have to review tapes to make sure the spacing is ok. Because you had a large number of cars does NOT mean you set the record
