Unhappy windshield repair

Anyone know of a decent auto glass repair shop around the Balt./Wash. metro area? I found a bunch in the phone book, but I wanted some personal opinions, too.

I was driving home on 50E last night... awesome drive. The temp was perfect, tunes were perfect, windows down, roof open, car was happy, I was happy... then *CRACK*

Nobody in front of me except for about a 1/4 mile up in the left lane. There was a car in the right lane I was passing. Somehow a monster stone chipped my windshield in the lower driver's side. Just a white crush mark on the outside, but a good-size chip taken out on the inside of my windshield.

Anyway, I want to get this repaired before it buds offspring.

Maybe I'll use some superglue? Anyone try this? Is it stupid to try? I've never had a chip in my windshield before. Maybe I've been lucky, but any advise on how to fix this would be really appreciated. My search didn't yield much, either.

Thanks in advance!

Call your insurance company. they should cover the cost of the repair without any deductible and no strikes on your insurance record. most all of the winshield repair/replace companies will just bill your insuranc ecompany directly. some even say they will replace your windshield if they can't repair it to your satisfaction. they have a silicon compound that fills in the crack and dries clear. sometimes a small chip can be fixed and you never its there. they will usually drive to your office or home instead of you going to them. a chip should take about 15-20 minutes to fix. just get it fixed fast before it spreads.

Thanks, guys. I had *them* fixed yesterday. It turns out that whatever hit my windshield put TWO chips in it right next to each other. They are still visible, but nothing big.

Now I just have to wash my car again to get the repair guy's greasy arm prints off of it.

Good luck with the windshield. I ended up with a chip mark within days of getting my car. I got it fixed and within days of that I got another one. After that I left it alone and sure enough I didn't pick up another damn chip. I did get it fixed the day before storing the car though. I figure its safe while I'm away. Are there still problems with cr@p falling off trucks in Maryland? When I left there was some talk in the news about all the debris on the roads.
