Question Looking for fun/scenic roads to drive in Southern VT

Hi all!

I am not a Subaru owner, but I do love them! Been contemplating on buying one for a winter beater but haven't gotten around to it just yet. Several of my friends drive them and every once in a while I get the chance to take their Subaru's out for a spin. Don't back out of this thread just yet please

I am the founder of the MINIs of Boston club and I am holding an event in Southern VT (specifically Stratton, VT) in mid-October called "MINIs in Foliage". I am not very familiar with the area and I'm trying to find fun roads to drive during the event. I have been on many forums but I can't seem to find out any really useful information for drives. Does anyone here know what roads would be good ones to drive? I'm looking for fun and/or scenic roads that are paved. Most of our MINIs are not set up for dirt/gravel roads. We MINI owners prefer windy ("wine-dee") roads and scenic roads to motor down. I have been told by numerous friends that Subaru owners and Subaru forums would be the best bet for finding out roads in that area, but I can't seem to locate any real useful information. So if anyone can help me out and point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it!

I have also tried checking motorcycle forums and pages but they don't seem to offer too much. I'm hoping that I'll have better luck on here!

Thanks everyone!

***If possible, please post a Google map or a link to where I can find out more information.***

No offense, friend, but have you thought about trying a... MINI forum?
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ew-england-18/
http://www.mini2.com/forum/new-york-new-england-region/

That said, just do a search on here for the word "cruise" I'm sure you'll find something. Most of the Subarus you'll see aren't set up for dirt/gravel roads either. We like windy (win-dee) roads to drive (dry-vuh) on.

So you're the founder of a club, huh? How many members in said club?
You're holding an event in October, huh? But don't know where it's going to be yet? Sounds like you're thinking of holding an event in October.

I have been on a lot of MINI forums. Most of them don't have a enough members for the area to provide specific information for drives, or even respond to the posts. From most of our active members, they have pointed me to talking to Subaru owners. So that's what I did. My club currently has 373 member, but most of which are not very active. The event is set in stone. It is being held at Stratton Mountain Resort from October 17th-20th. I was just trying to reach out to get as much information as possible to make the event the best we can get. If you don't believe me, we have our website set up for the event.

Rte.100 is where it's at if you wanna stay in VT. I've hosted and been a part of many mountain run and cruise events and IMO there's no better road to hit in VT. Here's a link to my last event which has some of Rte.100 on it. I only traveled part of it and it gets better the further north you go. Have fun man and hope this helped.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info RIOT! That's the type of info I was looking for! I don't really know the roads out there and I wanted the input from those who have been out in that area before or input from the locals so this really helps. It'll help me create some drives for each day of the event and give some options to the participants. Thanks again for the info!

If you travel up RT-100 North towards Ludlow, Tourists can stop @ The Vermont Country Store in Weston,
http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/s...s/About-Weston
then its a short drive to Ludlow, where you can drive up Mountain Road @ Okemo MT. The road, if still open at that point in the season, winds up Okemo Mt. Ski area until ending .3 mi. From the summit. They run hillclimbs on this road during July/August.

ALSO, some scenic drives in that area, Including Mt. Accutney state park toll road...

I've been going up to Mt. Snow my whole life, and the drive up to Wilmington, VT from Greenfield, MA is amazing. If you go up 91 and get off in Greenfield, it starts as Rt. 2 then 112 then 100. That and Rt. 9 across the bottom of the state are pretty solid options.

I haven't had a chance to explore that area too much but I would imagine if you just drive around you'll find some great roads.

Best of luck!

RT100 is a awesome drive. It is one of the road I take when I go up to VT for vacation (Camping). Alot of twist and decent speed limits lol.
