According to urban dictionary, a ricer is a person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.

Feel free to post any pics of ricers that you spot and I'm sure we'll all get some good laughs out of it!

I got a few off the "common mods" list - but hey at least my Honda is all one color and usually shiny!

Stop being so one sided. Look at things from a different angle for once. I mean, Nomad, that wing you have there, Do you notice an improvement of handleing at Auto X with all the downforce that wing is giving you as you scoot across the parking lot at 25mph?

I rocked a regular wingless trunk on the same car for 11.5 years. I finally put on a trick, adjustable carbon fiber wing and now you call me out?
It is certainly more effective and functional than the 5 dozen or so stock STI and WRX wings running around Alaska!

I have autocrossed for several years now….but to answer your question, no there is no noticeable improvement in handling at the up to 60 mph some of us faster cars hit at our auto crosses. However, my car is not a track day garage queen. It is a daily driver. I do hit speeds where the aerodynamics of the wing would assist with down force. I am also building my car up for future competition up at Tanacross on the big course. There is a method to my madness.

A Mercedes, particularly the one in question, is a fine luxury automobile. A Subaru Impreza, while they have come a long way, is still a economy type model. To compare the two is going out on a limb pretty far. To paint the wheels on the white Impreza was "different" and not so atrocious. To paint a black Mercedes wheels turquoise, or whatever hue that is, and not think people are going to is well, special….as in special 'K'!

The thread is about rice….it is supposed to be in good fun. If you can't take some ribbing….best to stay out. And with that said….my next submission is this abortion...

Cscj15 still had dislike towards the blue stock wheels he went with and if you paid attention you would see that when he switched to the cleaner white wheels he's currently on now, that there was a greater amount of compliments coming his way.

People were also less inclined to comment negatively because they'd rather just not come off as bashing, where as it'd actually come off as a more positive suggestion if written as such.

That whole defense of "looking different" is a joke. Obviously any vehicle listed within this thread had the owner going for something "different." It definitely doesn't justify just how ugly it is. The feedback was there and in overwhelming numbers, perhaps one should take that feedback and look to improve. This isn't elementary school where you get nothing but compliments, blue ribbons for last place or a free carton of milk. If you can't take the feedback then don't post.

Different..... pshh... maybe people should start being different by actually making changes to the fastest subarus list or autox listings instead of being a DC Shoes Advertisement.

When I added those tacky parts on to my RS I wasn't really on the scene then. Just me in my own little world. I thought I was unique and wanted to have some fun with my money. Now that I'm deep into the game I've become super picky about the quality of my mods. Live and learn. It's actually nice to have feedback. It helps define your own character, whether you are unique or conformist. Whether you can properly admire or fully bite someone else's style.

Exactly, thank you Chano.

Pretty sure we all agree that a wheel change would go a long way with that vehicle. AMG has some really nice sets out there, Vossen wheels looks to have some pretty impressive lineups for the luxury brands.

I might replace them, the kit was very inexpensive and I want to tweak the placement and redo the wiring the "right"way. This install was more of a proof of concept for me
