Default STi 6MT Short Throw shifter install help

I have not been able to find much info on this on the web. Its either for the 5MT , after market STS, or old dead links to scoobymods.

I've been able to piece through the info I have found and have the stock shifter just about to come out, I just cant get the last nut on the linkage above the stay. Anyone have any tips or tricks to getting the old linkage out and the new one in? Car is a 13 STi, I am attempting to install the SPT STI STS set (the one with the linkages, etc).

It looks like I may have t drop the tranny a bit to get the clearance I need, I would rather not though.

UPDATE: Its pretty much impossible to do without dropping the tranny supports and then lowering it with a jack. Then you have to manhandle it a bit to get that horizontal U joint bolt out. Once I dropped the tranny it all went fairly quick. The 6Mt STS is a super big PITA to install on your back, and its not much different throw wise over the stock shifter. Big meh.

So as I said the STS and new bushings are in. One thing that has me concerned a bit is the way it goes into 2nd, 4th, 6th. It almost feels like it goes back to far so there is quite a bit of travel required to get to N from those gears, unlike 1st, 3rd, and 5th, the shifter drops down to N with little movement.

Anyone know what could cause this? I don't think I reversed the U joint as I paid attention to how it came out and went in what could cause this?

i feel your pain. you should be able to find an install pic to check the position of theat U...seem to remember the pipe it's welded to bends with a slight elbow pointed down. my kart boy SS and bushings all went in with the usual jiggling and juggling, and remove the transverse trans mount, not the exhaust. feels right.

Here is a video of the problem I am having with the slop. I am starting to think I may have lost a bearing or spacer during reinstall. Anyone know what could cause this nastiness?
