Hey everyone,
I am looking for a supercharger for my car. I heard Rimmer went out of business. Is this true? If so who makes one and what is the best. I want a supercharger because I don't want all the headaches of changing everything that you have to in a turbo. Thanks Steve edit: Ok that is not what I wanted to hear. Well there have been a couple I guess. There was Rimmer but his reputation and product was shady at best. I also remember seeing something about a system from Australia, but I don't know of any I-clubber actually having one.
TRi Tuning has claimed several times that they are working on a system. About 3 months ago, they said it would be out within the month. |

I was working on something, but I was having resources problems, mainly a car to work with on it and a place to leave it apart other then my garage, but I've still got the idea and the want to do it. Maybe in the future I'll have the oppurtunity to work on it some more. :-/

Doing a S/C can be only slightly less of a headache than a turbo, from what I understand...
Hey 8, I'll gladly let you use my car as the guinea pig...No, really...I'm not kidding ![]() Edit: I'm still serious ![]() [This message has been edited by Fido (edited May 24, 2001).] |

I'll be frank: what are your qualifications to develop a supercharger kit, TRi?
How would you rate your company's technicial proficiency? What big projects have you tackled? Small ones? Just curious. |

I don't know about anyone else, but I can see a vortech being pretty easy to fit!

There were two groups developing a supercharger for the EJ25, excluding any criminals who are taking "deposits."
One was TRi. The other was involved with Prestige Motorsports. I think of it as Jerry's baby. ![]() Names have been thrown about, but I have no idea whether Vortech or Jackson Racing decided to back/develop a kit for the RS. At one point, TRi was using Vortech for the supercharger unit and developing the kit on their own. Then they were working with Jackson Racing but needed 100 or so verbal commitments to merely begin the development. Now, I have no idea what's going on. This information is out of date and I take no responsibility for getting your hopes up. |

You can count me in as one of the armchair S/C developers. Even went so far as to have Vortech run all the calcs for various units on the 2.5L and such. Got a great idea for packaging that'd work great with a TMIC or w/o. But to start a project like that takes a good chunk of capital to get it off the ground and a lot of patience to deal with people who want it anodized red with a left-handed filter element
![]() I don't see it happening unles an already established competent tuner shop spends a lot of time and effort (not to mention $$$) to do it. Right now all the good ones are already doing bang-up business on their own product lines that are more lucrative than a S/C kit for a few people who think a blower is the way to go. Donjuan, I couldn't agree with you more. Every time this comes up someone says "Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, I know someone who'll have one in a few months..." Whatever. To whoever does crack this market, more power to you (no pun intended). Tony [This message has been edited by Tony (edited May 25, 2001).] |

If I look at a Vortech kit on a Mustang and then sit on my arse and try to figure out who could make it work on an Impreza, does that count as development?

Colin - Most definitely!
Of course there was someone trying to develop a Vortech kit and they idiocally gave up after blowing a motor. If they did things right the first time, they would have had electronics to tell them that something was wrong and it was going to blow. Whoever that is, if you still have everything for that deal let me know - I've got a few free weeks before my turbo goes in and I'd happily set it up and get it running right. ![]() |

What the hell is with these mysterious comments..."Be patient, you will see a superchager soon." "One is on it's way." I have seen those from random people since I joined this board. Yet none have ever come thru. What a bunch of crap.
