I am a Phillies fan but I travel to as many parks as I can, been to about 20 including Fenway, old Yankee stadium and Wrigley. Wrigley is my favorite of the older parks and many of the newer ones too

If he's right by soldier field then you ABSOLUTELY NEED to, one night, walk out to the planetarium and enjoy the weather and skyline from the north side of the hill that separates the planetarium from the lake shore. I've spent a few mornings with my girlfriend watching the sun come up over the lake. Worth it! Bring a blanket to sit on and relax.

We walked over there today and down by navy pier to have some beers. Soldier field is directly across the street. We went to waffles today for some breakfast. Had some cheddar waffles with braised short ribs. I'll check out that other place to.

They shut down the pier for to many people. Went to a few bars instead. Had dinner at the original Mortons tonight followed by some bars around that area and then scout. My friend was hammered to fast tonight.

If youre still in town and are looking for a very casual place to eat you can try Mr. Beef on Orleans, or Big and Littles right down the street. If you like BBQ or Ribs do NOT leave town without trying SmoQUE. Its more on the North side but its right off the Kennedy. If you want some out of this world Chicago dogs try Hot Dougs on California or Gene and Judes.

Super Dawg is alright, but Gene and Judes is more of a Chicago Style dog. They don't even offer ketchup, and all you can get on it is Mustard, Relish, Onions, and Sport Peppers. Plus their fries are better. Hot Dougs you will see some Dogs that you might find nowhere else on the planet. I mean, a Yak sausage???? Where else can you get stuff like that?

I'm planning to stop in Chicago for a day on my way to California (driving) and I was wondering if you guys knew of a cheap and decent hotel in the downtown area?
Also what are the best places to go if I'll be there for only one day/night? My friend wants to stop by the pier and I'll do more research on the things suggested in this thread.

http://www.theskydeck.com
Is it worth it?

Also where are the places I should avoid?
