Default Is it normal for my 2012 wrx to sound like it's falling apart?

Rattles everywhere: dash, doors, glove compartment, etc.

Weird sounding "knocks" or bumps from the rear when going over small bumps

My car literally sounds like my 10 year old dodge, and I don't beat on it at all.

I'm taking my car in for warranty work to get these rattles (hopefully) fixed, but at 15k miles I don't think a car should be having all these noises.

Plus, the plastic piece surrounding the clock has come apart from the dash.

The rattles started at 2500 miles and have not improved. Enjoy!

Your gonna have some rattles here and there but it def should not sound like a 10 yr old vehicle and like it is falling apart. Def. bring it to the dealer and let take it for a ride and see what they can do. What I would recomend is bringing it in to the dealer and going for a ride with the mechanic thats gonna be working on the car so you can point out all the rattles you want addressed. This will ensure that he address every single 1 since only you know when each rattle exists. Good luck!

I have an 04 that rattles pretty badly on some roads, my solution, buy an exhaust and cruise with the windows down. You won't hear a thing

I took mine back today for rattles. my hatchback sounds like its not bolted up right or something. my rear view mirror also fell off while i was driving and hit the dash by the radio bezel now thats all scratched up.

Edit: im at 2200 miles. Also you should take it back man, my friend has the same car as me, 13 WRX hatch and his car sounds flawless on the inside. He drove mine and was like whats going on in here man? Lol.

Um did you not research before you bought it? Its pretty well known Subaru isn't setting a records for interior quality. If you wanted a fun awd car with good build quality maybe buy a golf r or audi..

I was looking at my door plastic yesterday where its notched to go around the door frame near the weather stripping and there is actually corkscrewed plastic like a little kid wittled it with a pocket knife to fit haha.

Seriously ? do you personally find the rattles to be so bad in your car that you regret buying it , or you regret buying it because of 10 people on the internet complaining there car is too noisy for them ....

The fact that its that new and making that much noise is something to be concerned about. If you have a 10yr old car thats a whole different ballgame and you should start expecting things to rattle a bit. Like you say if its under warrenty have them fix the problem. Most people don't buy a car new for the "noise" factor (interior-wise).

I've had rattles pretty much since day one. I knew about them before I bought the car, so they aren't unexpected. I have to say though, they seem to be subsiding now that I have ~23k miles. Or it could be the summer, or I just don't notice anymore, or moon is in a different phase.

If you can identify the source location of a specific squeak, there are a lot of 'how-tos' out there to fix them. Good luck.

I know with the 13's the rear view mirror popping off or rattling was a known problem, other than that I couldn't tell you.

Although, back when I had heat shields, that was the most prominent annoying rattle.

I'm starting to suspect the heat shields, but it does sound like my loud rattle is coming from the dash. I can't pin point it.

If it was the heat shield would it sound like it was coming from the dash.

Found it! It was actually my rear view mirror. For some reason it sounded like it was coming from the dash.
