Default new guy introducing myself

Name's Nick, I'm new to subaru's but I've always been a fan. I spent a while browsing trying to find a good deal and finally got my hands on one. About 2 weeks ago i bought an 02 wrx with 90k on it, it has what seems to be a pretty decent setup on it. The mods are as follows (off the top of my head).

-hta 68 turbo
-800cc injectors
-ram air
-top mount
-grimmspeed ebcs
-tein coilovers
-Perrin down pipe
-full catless exhaust
-innovate wide band
-defi 0-30 boost gauge
-gram lights
-squeaky brembos
-and crappy tires

Its a nice looking car for sure, I'll post pics when i get the chance. Only has one problem.. it runs like hammered ass! Had cel when i bought it for egt and o2 sensor. It was running an a/f of 22 at idle when I got it home. I was getting horrible gas milage. I did the egt sensor mod and replaced the front o2 with another denso and it turns out I had a vacuum leak also. Gas milage is better and now im running 16 a/f at idle (which I'm guessing is normal). It doesn't boost right at all, the previous owner said he used tactrix to tune it and my guess is he did a ****ty job or just straight up lied to me. Especially based on some of the wiring I'm seeing. It hits 20+ pounds of boost and fluctuates bouncing back from 10 to 20 like its waving at me. The car goes nowhere it just boggs, and sounds like a machine gun in first gear. It drives fine if i keep it under 4k. I have a Tactrix on order now and it should be here sometime this week. Anyways.. thats my story, throw some words at me!

Welcome to the site and congrats on the new car. Def get some pics up so we can check out the new ride. Also do yourself a favor and read the stickys at the top of each section. They will answer most of if not all of your questions and give you tons of useful info. Also if you are thinking about doing anymore modding since your car already has some mods done make sure you pay close attention unabombers manifesto sticky. Good luck with the car.

9k, not too bad. Today after installing my subs my car was magically fixed, I'm guessing I reset the ecu when I unhooked the battery. Actually pulls thru first gear topping off at 20psi. Still getting pretty bad oscillation in at the top of second and all thru above gears. Not sure what the problem is

Your number one priority...get it tuned!

Don't drive it with boost going haywire like that or it'll get really expensive very quickly. From your description of how the car sounds and poor gas mileage, you're running really rich. Take it to a good tuner there and let the tuner help figure out what's going on.

Good luck!

It's not fixed, and resetting the ECU means you lost all the data a tuner might have used to diagnose the problem. Don't reset it again. Get it to a tuner!

You have some sort of mechanical issue. ECU resets don't fix that.

No tuners in my area as of right now. Working on finding one.. In the mean time I'm thinking ill check for simple stuff, leaks, restrictor pill, I really wanna screw with the wastegate arm but I'm resisting the urge. Maybe even log when my openport gets here. Just trying to pinpoint something.
