I know I wash mine when there is at least 1-2 weeks of clear sunny skies. The other days a I just dust off the car. But if it rains the dust will stay on my car no matter what.
Where I live, there are solid chunks of dirt in the air and they love collecting on my car. And when it rains the dirt just makes my car even more dirty.

I don't wash my car according to the weather- washing my car determines the weather. I swear I expect a hurricane when I polish the car down, wash it, and then wax it. Just washing it usually only causes a typhoon or a blizzard or perhaps a large thunderstorm with hail...

imprezer. I wash and wax my car when the seasons change, other than that, I like it to be muddy and dirty. I randomly wash the "old" dirt off, to make room for the "new" dirt. hehe ![]() Jay McDade Auto Tech--Lincoln/Mercury/Jaguar www.hometown.aol.com/impreza25rs2000 |

Imprezer: Y'know, that's a good point - I could save all that money on soap, shampoo, and water - then I could go out and buy some OZ Prodrives (and a couple bottles of Polo Sport). . .

brucelee....
have you tried Eagle one "wet look" or "slick stuff" from The Wax shop? We used Slick stuff on the race cars, and it was FANTASTIC. I got a bottle to use on my cars from the team and it was really good. I'm kinda partial to using the eagle one stuff... sjd |

I wash both of my cars all of the time it seems like. If you do it often it is usually pretty quick. Buy some quick shine, instant detailer, etc.
It's pollen season here in lovely Atlanta, the yellow stuff is all over your car even if it's only out an hour or so. By the way, I like Griots (griotsgarage.com) great products, even better people supporting it. |

I wash my car. And it looks dirty. I'm really anal about the cleanliness of Scooby Blue. I usually wash, and dry with a synthetic chamois. Which BTW is the best kind of chamois for drying a car. They last years and you'll be amazed at how much water the synthetic ones soak up!
![]() After the wash, I bust out the Final Inspection (Maguiars) spray polish and look for water spots and bug/road debris. Then the wheels get shiny and the tires get coated with pro-detail spray. And then...it rains the next day on the way to work! Damnit!!! ![]() Skylab |

you know what is a temporary wax job? Pledge! like the wood polish stuff. It works good and is fast to put on. Just in case you need something quick. It'll last about a week. But for a show or the drags, it's perfect.

I'm with Brian...after I finished rinsing off my car, the clouds started to gather. Fortunately for the local populace, I decided to call it quits after the "spray wax."
Tommorrow it's a full job, so I hope Wakefield TPC is handing out umbrellas. |

I live in Oregon, so I have to wait for it to stop raining to even think about washing my car, and since it's spring here, just because it's nice one day doesn't mean it's going to be nice tommorrow. So, yah, the weather does play a role.
This was after driving on some muddy raods, by the way. I don't usually let it get THAT dirty ![]() |

I tried, with a 50% success rate. I washed my car yesterday 'cause it's nice day (and only because it's been a long while), then it rained at night while my car's outdoor.
