Cool Rush Movie Night

Pretty sure most of us car nuts, motor heads, and gear crunchers already know about the Ron Howard film coming out Sept. 27th which is a Friday. I was hoping that we could set up a meet and possibly attend this super looking movie all together. Perhaps we could get tickets ahead of the showing and go eat afterwards too at someplace that could accommodate a large group easily.

http://www.rushmovie.com

Perhaps the mods could make this a sticky?

I hope this is a good movie. I saw Ron Howard on Top Gear - UK the other night and he spoke of the movie. The trailers shown looked good.

But, we'll have to go at a later date. Jean and I will be in Mexico killing fish and celebrating our 30th Anniversary.

It's getting closer. Hoping to get a bunch of us to attend this in a 'drama free" evening. I was thinking of ideas for a post-movie dinner too.

let's hear some ideas.

Suite 100 has a private room. If patrons spend more than $500 as a group, the room charge is free. Some of us have had functions there before and easily covered the fee requirement. I have a call in to them as we speak. I am doing this only as an option, not written in stone just yet.

I'm still in for a "drama free" evening. don't mind a post movie dinner either.

Are tickets being sold in advance for something like this?

Fandango and flixster type sites will have advanced sales I'm sure but I honestly don't expect this to be a blow out attendance thing here in Alaska.

FYI, the suite 100 room was already booked that night. They can still accommodate up to 30 of us at a couple tables put together.

I do too Henry. You are missed.

We will toast you at dinner.

Please let us know when you are homeward bound. I would like to see a contingent of AKIC at the airport to welcome you back. We did this in the past for other service members and I would like to see this tradition continue.

We might be up for this. If anyone hasn't seen it already, "Senna" is on netflix and has some mind-numbing footage from the days before computer cars. I might watch it again before seeing Rush.

There are so many good race/car flix on netflix right now

The animated and live action Initial D.

Red Bull: Return to Millen Mountain: pike's peak hill climb footage/documentary

Truth in 24: Lemans documentary, Audi Vs. Puegot

Love the Beast: car guy Eric Bana documentary. Some awesome footage and a fantastic story in this.

Dust to Glory: a great off-road motorcycle documentary.

On any Sunday: quintessential motorcycle film.

Faster & Fastest: Moto GP documentaries.

Moto 4: superb offroad motorcycle film

World's fastest Indian: Anthony Hopkins masterpiece based on Land speed record holder Burt Monroe.

Racing Dreams: a great documentary about Karting.

The above mentioned Senna is fantastic.

Lots of others out there too. Too often movies about racing get too cheesy with hollywood adding elements of love stories and fluff. I look forward to this movie from Ron Howard. I hope it brings the goods so that we can get more like minded attention from talented directors.

As long as I'm not closing at work that day, sounds awesome.

Thank you for that Netflix list.

Not on Netflix, but is the epitome of a race movie - LeMans with Steve McQueen.
I'd be up for seeing this that weekend as well.
