Its great not having to watch the dipstivk like a hawk.
It is indeed Idemitsu. I worked for them for several years. They are freaks about quality control. If the lab says a blend is "off" it gets dumped and burned in the boiler. I have seen a run of quarts get pulled and dumped. It took three weeks and we had to hire outside temps to do it. I don't remember the # of quarts but it was in the thousands. The nice thing was free oil. I have enough Subaru 0-20 and 5-30 to keep the oil changed in both my vehicles for probably 5 years before it goes bad.

What is it that you're trying to see what's up about?

If cheap oil is the goal, the Valvoline 0w20 at walmart is around $22 for a five quart jug.

For an extra $3/qt, I'll stick with the Pennzoil Platinum in a 5-qt jug.

The Mobil1 "stigma" is from running Resource Conserving 5W-30 in turbo's. Mobil1 0W-40 is a stellar performer in a turbo and the 0W-20 would be a good choice for a BRZ.

Also, the factory Idemitsu is different from the dealer service Idemitsu.

While I have used the Pennzoil, I wouldnt pay $15 more for it. I got a 5 quart jug of the Pennzoil for around $25 one time.
Six of one, half dozen of the other. Pick your flavor of wallyworld cheap oil...
Me, I don't have an oil burner, so my oil experimentation and aggrivation have waned. Whatever is the most economical way to keep the engine lubricated properly. So I'm gladly running the free Idemitsu I get from my dealer for the life of the car. But I do have a spare jug of Valvoline and a few quarts of Castrol in case I ever cant make it to the dealer.

I mispoke. I meant to say that I'd pay $3 more for the 5-quart jug of Pennzoil Platinum. $25 is Walmart's everyday price for the 5-qt jug.

I just did my 3rd oil change on mine on Saturday. Broke down and bought a $40 set of plastic ramps from advanced auto. So much easier than dragging the 5 ton floor jack and jack stands out. I have not had a car with less than 12" of ground clearance in many years. The ramps were well worth it.
