Default Wicked Innovation Relocating

As the 2013 season comes to an end, there are going to be some big changes at Wicked Innovation. In September we are going to close our doors in Rhode Island and shut down all operations for 10 days as Jay and I move the shop and our personal belongings to our new location in Manchester, New Hampshire. Matt and Jimmy will remain in Rhode Island and Jimmy will continue to offer his services at a different location. Matt will continue to provide his tuning services locally in Rhode Island as well as at our new location in New Hampshire. Jay and I, along with our significant others, have decided that we would much rather live in New Hampshire for the foreseeable future, so we are relocating to Manchester and taking the shop with us. Though this is a big change in venue, the quality of the service, products and customer relations you have come to expect from us will not change at all.

Our new location is easily accessible, only a couple of minutes off of I-293 in Manchester. With multiple highway options to the South, itís actually a bit closer to our Boston-area customers than our current location is. When looking for a new place, one of the most important things we were concerned with was not being too far North and being close to the highway for customers making long trips, we know how much everyone hates RT2 now! We hope some of our Rhode Island customers will be able to make the drive up, itís about two hours from our current location, and of course we expect to see some new faces at the shop this fall.

Over the next few weeks as our schedule fills in, we will begin scheduling appointments for September at our new facility as there is interest, and of course we will also at some point no longer be able to schedule anything in West Kingston. By the second week of August we expect to be booked until the move, so please plan accordingly. Other than customers who have cars in progress right now or who have appointments already, we will not be taking on any engine builds or similar major projects until we are at our new location in September.

The last five years in Rhode Island have been a life changing experience for all of the Wicked family, thanks to our loyal local customers as well as the ever-increasing number making trips from the far reaches of New England. We want to say a special thanks to our local customers, South County and Rhode Island in general has an excellent community of enthusiasts (Subaru and otherwise) which we have had the pleasure to be a part of over the last few years. We will miss you guys!

Last of all Jay and I would like to formally thank Matt Miner. Matt and I conceived Wicked Innovation nearly five years ago now, and since then Matt has been an integral part of the Wicked crew in more ways than I could ever list. I think weíd be hard pressed to find a customer who hasnít at least once been an hour late getting home because they were talking to Matt at the end of the day. Matt has helped make Wicked Innovation grow from an idea to what it is today, he has been a better friend and coworker than we could ask for, and his presence in our daily lives will be missed.

On Sunday, August 25th we will be hosting a final meet at our shop in West Kingston. As usual, it will be free, there will be food and drinks, and it will be family-friendly.

No sales tax for the customers, no income tax for the employees.

It's a little bit of both. Yes, the taxes are nice but the cost of living is also lower and there's less unemployment etc... All things that make it better for small businesses in a niche market like us. Just from what I see driving around in Manchester and Nashua when I visit, it seems like there are a ton of not- or slightly modified WRXs and STis running around, I'd like to see that change after we move. I think there are some older members on here who remember 4-5 years ago when Southern RI was like that.

I'm also a NH native, though I haven't been a full time resident for almost 10 years. I'm looking forward to living there again for sure, there are a lot of things I want to be able to do that I just cannot do in RI.

Ha, coming from RI, NH is cheap. RI property tax and vehicle excise taxes are out of control.

From a business perspective, RI is even more miserable, CNBC recently ranked us 49th out of 50 states for most unfriendly to business. MA ranks much better then both RI and NH but I can see why you would move back to NH if you have roots there.

I've only dealt with you guys a few times but each time you beat expectations. Best of luck!

Good luck in the move fellas. I'm definitely going to miss being able to swing by, but I'm sure your customer base is going to grow incredibly. I drive by there pretty often, I'll be sure to stop by! And hey, now I'm not so worried about breaking down while driving up to go skiing
