Default new tmic...now overboosting bad!?

I just installed a sti tmic on my 03 wrx. Took it for a drive and noticed my boost gauge was reading way high. Looked at my AP and it read 21.9psi. I stopped immediately and drove home staying out of boost. I have a catless up pipe, catless dp, invidia catback and spt intake with a cobb AP ots stage 2 map. Why am I overboosting now after I installed the tmic? What can be done? It was running with no overboost or issues for over 2 months with all the mods except the sti tmic. (Normal boost peaks at 16.8psi) Thanks for the help!

Is that TMIC clean inside? Spiders and **** moves in when it's been sitting in a garage for 3 years. Perhaps channels are clogged with dirty oil? Dawn soap and pressure washer that thing. Gotta start simple, right?

I'd get a Cobb boost controller (electronic). You prob have a way different flow pattern now that's why you should always tune for a intercooler regardless of tmic or fmic. Stage 2 ap tune is decent but u have a few more mods then exhaust and intake which is what the stage 2 is. just my opinion from experience.

The tmic was right off someones STi so it is not dirty. Also if i install a EBCS, a protune is needed, but it would manage boost great. I read on the forums that a STi tmic has no need for a protune if installed...but I may be incorrect.

I'd recheck all your hoses you loosened/removed to install I/C. Also look around to see if you pulled off any other hoses during install.

^^^ That is exactly happened to me.

I upgraded my stock WRX intercooler to an STI one.
The added width caused a bit of rubbing with the wastegate hose, which eventually ruptured the hose.

Check that hose and replace it!

My next call was wastegate hose. Clogged, torn, ruptured, disconnected, damaged.

if yer not tunnin that thing to run 20psi anyway...yer missin all the td04 fun

there is a LOT to be said for a well running 2.0 with the right breathing mods and a td04 @20-21psi

i could spin the tires from a 5mph roll with my 2.0 by just jabbing the throttle WOT

it WILL need bigger than stock injectors and a fuel pump....but
