Default Need some advice ASAP, tactrix will not connect

My tuner moved away after doing my break in map for my new motor so I recently bought a tactrix cable to data logg/use learning view/ and flash my next map. I have not used my tactrix cable before. My laptop is one of my parents fairly old Toshiba, 8-ish years, as I use a google chrome and I am not tech-savy enough to put romraider on linux on my laptop. It is using Windows Vista. When my car is not in test mode and I attempt to connect learning view to my tactrix, it does not receive input from my tactrix and says to make sure my ignition is on, everything is plugged in ect. I also do not get any lights on the tactrix port. I have romraider, the definitions and logger definitions, learning view, and ecuflash downloaded. The version of ECU flash says it downloads the drivers automatically. Also when I try to download my current ROM in test mode ecu flash does not receive any input from my ecm. My friend data logged my car last week without a problem. The lights on the tactrix never come on at all. I have tried moving it around, checking the connection from underneath and changing the usb port on the laptop also.

If you have access to a buddy with another device to rule out the obd port or the tactrix. It sound like a poor connection to the obd port or an issue with the tactrix itself.

Smarten up noob.

OP sounds like an issue with the tactrix then? I just sent mine out for repair last week. If you can find a local with a working setup you could easily rule out what is defective. Doesn't sound like your obd port is bad if they able to at least get some communication with the ecu, less likely anyway. You could probably call tactrix and find out what pin to apply 5v and what to ground to see if you get anything out of the device.

Forgot to update, the tactrix was defective right out of the box. Called tactrix and they wanted me to send mine back, them test it and send me a new one(2+week process) I complained that I was unhappy and they sent me a new one that day with a return label for my defective one. The new one just got here and does work
