Default My 2007 2.5i build, not your average impreza

Hi Nasioc,
I thought I would finally start a build thread on my 2007 impreza 2.5i. I bought the car about a year ago, the original owner blew the NA engine and had a complete 2007 STi swap done afterward (don't ask me why, but it worked out for me). Somehow after he dumped all that money in it, he managed to blow the head gasket on it with 71k miles on the STi stuff. He sold it to me cheap. My original plan was just to do a head gasket job on the car and just daily drive it as essentially a stock STi. When I got the motor torn down, I managed to salvage 13 valves out of it, that was it! lol. I bought a new 09 EJ25 short block, new heads and had everything put together with built internals. Put the following in it and thought I would break the 400 whp barrier on E85:

New 09+ EJ257 bored 99.75 CP pistons / rings. ACL race bearings, 08+ STi oil pump.
New heads / new oem cams ARP head studs, Gates timing set
Spearco TMIC, Omni 4 Bar Map sensor, Cobb XLE BPV, Grimmspeed ECBS, FP Green 8CM hotside / 3" inlet, AMR inlet, Cobb Aftamaf tube, APS 70mm intake, TGV's deleted, 3mm phenolic spacers, Kartboy main pulley, bellmouth DP, Grimmspeed 38mm EWG, Maddad UEL header, Maddad whisper exhaust,
DW1300cc injectors, Walbro 400 fuel pump, Competition clutch stage 3

I managed to make 381/379 whp/tq, not sure if it was the crappy DW injectors or if it was because the tuner was on the phone more to his lawyer fighting over his kids with his ex, but I really don't think his head was in it. Anyway, I was disappointed with the results, the car drove okay, but idle swings were bad and it had small knock issues, I got tired of trying to get adjustments made to the map and decided I would start over with only 2k miles on the current build.

Will be installing a Borg Warner S200sx-rs-56 rotated turbo setup.

How it was when I first got it

pulling the motor

Motor arrived

This was disappointing.

Scored some cusco coilovers and einke wheels somewhere in the process

Cusco coilovers

Started tearing it apart again for a rotated build

Ditched the DW and got the new ID 1300 top feeds

Bought a rotated kit from Morrocco88, highly recommended! http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2412144

You're not crazy, lol. I just used them temporarily, I have STi spherical ones now. The wrx ones worked okay with the stock STi sways, but had clearance issues with the thicker cobb bars.

i was wondering what wheels are on the car. I liked the shot from the rear down the p/s of car. my offset on my wheels are no where yours. otherwise, the build is awesome -maybe a video clip would be appropriate after its all together.

They are 18x7.5 +35 Enkei, I bought them used or I would have chosen 8.5 diameter. Lucked out and got them for $400 with decent tires off a guy here locally. I like them way better than the drag 31's the car came with. The offset imo is perfect, but some would disagree. I will definitely post a video of the car, probably on the dyno after its all said and done. Should be less tgan 3 weeks now hopefully!

I still think that last build had more to give. That should have easily been a 400whp setup.

I'd believe that. When I rode in it, it didn't feel quite right.

I normally don't care because I'm just jealous I can't start work on my own (wife gets her brand new Forester this fall, we're going to build a house, and we're starting serious talks about adopting a child) so quite frankly, my own car suffers. But I'll say it anyway, very nice ride.

And while we're on the subject...I don't pretend to know jack or **** about cars outside of sparkplugs and oil changes...what are those COBB bars on the bottom? Swaybars?
