Okay, Im stumped.
I cant get my car to start on the first crank. I played with timing, fuel, crank enrich, and prime temp. Is there something Im missing to the fine art of easy starting? What do you link owners have your setting set to for easy starting?

I always wait for the fuel pump to prime the system. It takes about 2-3 seconds after you turn the key to the position before you crank it.

Might be the IAC being fully closed or something. Try waiting a few seconds as stated above, and see how it is then.

I want to say that you either have:
a) too much fuel b) too little fuel on startup. But knowing the way your car starts. I'm going to say that you still don't have enough fuel dumping into a cold engine for good ignition. Too much fuel would cause the engine to rev hard on startup. Too little and it takes a bit more cranking. Seriously, try at least 100% more fuel on crank. And send me a copy of your map so I can make fun of you at the next meet. ![]() |

Supposedly the link has to "boot up" and that's why it takes a sec. I just put the key "on" till the fuel pump stops and the car starts perfectly.

Midwayman, are you trying to get rid of a rough start with the Link? If you don't mind, I would love to hear the symptoms, as I have an ITC and I get crappy startups sometimes. It will crank crank crank, then stop (key still turned over), crank crank crank START!
Does your startup seem something like this? It annoys the hell out of me. Graham |

<threadjack 2> sounds like a GM to me. Did ya let andrew look at your map. Seems to me, he would know all about this. I think someone needs to start a MAP database for all the ECUs and all the maps giving details to mods, weather, engine model and octain. Might help out newbies in the future. </threadjack 2>
Also...is this a recient thing or has it been like this since you first started running off the link ECU? Pardon my newbness but wouldn't cranking for so long, flood your engine with fuel? -Neal |

Like Chav and Blugin said... the link does have to boot up. If it is starting fine when you leave the key in the on position then there is not a problem. That is just one of the annoying little things about running a link. I usually just hop in the car and put the key in the on position, then by the time I’m done putting on my seatbelt the fuel system is primed and it starts right up. It doesn’t take long to get used to it.

Yah, Ill give it longer to boot and see if I can fiddle more. Just used to hopping in and turning the key first.
Anyone know if its right that the LOWER that crank enrich is set to, the MORE fuel its throwing in??? Counterintuitive... but I think the manual said that. |

I guess this is to revive this thread.... a friend running the Link had to wait the same 3 seconds we all wait for the Link to start the fuel pump, and now... no more waiting, just like a stock ECU. He didn't do anything to the Link.
Does anybody have an idea on what happened? Anybody else experiencing the same luck? |

I gave my car to subaru service to do the 30k mile service with the link installed. When I first got the car back the fuel pump would prime the instant the key was in the on position (and it would fire right up if cranked). I tried to connect to the link plus with the laptop and I got nothing. I keyed on then off a few times and then the laptop connected, I checked everything to make sure the settings were fine. Then I tried to start it, but it had gone back to the 3 second wait then fuel pump on. Weird, it has never happened since.

DAMN IT!!!!
This is the same thing. He has a Link Plus too, and he still gets the pump on as soon as he puts it in the on position. I'm trying to figure out how to do this and I have no clues where to look for this.... |
