Default BEWARE: Rota counterfeits now on the market!

http://www.autoindustriya.com/auto-i...-products.html

Quote:
The counterfeit [ROTA] wheels have recently surfaced through some wheel dealers in Malaysia. They are manufactured in China. The most distinct feature of the 'copies' is that they are embossed with a ROTA marking on the face of the wheel, whereas the genuine ROTA [wheel] has none. They also come with a center cap bearing the 'ROTA Wheels' logo. They are packaged in plain brown boxes. Original ROTA wheels come with boxes that feature ROTA markings and 3D wheel drawings.

Lol, that's funny. I wonder if they will actually be any cheaper? Rota's are pretty cheap as is, and at least are proven now.

Would the replica of a replica make them real?

So much hate for rotas, I like my titans

One of the lightest 17x9 wheels you can get that is reasonably priced.

Can't say I feel sorry for Rota seing their business is based on copying successful wheel designs from other manufacturers and undercutting their prices. It's obviously cheaper to manufacture wheels when you don't have to spend any money on research and design seeing how their designs are not their own.

Probably would not have happened if Rota had not jacked up their prices. Why buy Rotas for almost $1,000 when you can buy the originals for the same or a little more? Rotas made sense at $500 - $800 a set shipped.

Anyway, the logo is embossed into the wheel? So it's nicer than the original?

Who pays 1k for rotas ? Do they actually have sets that expensive? I certainly hope not, I got my slipstreams for $500 shipped on a package parts deal

I got mine for $800 shipped from CA. Considering shipping is probably $150 from CA that's a good deal... $800 for nice looking, 17x9 that are only 17.8 lbs.

I find this splendidly ironic.

A company that makes its life copying and running other companies out of business is being challenged by another company that practices the same shady business.

LIve by the sword, die by the sword.

I have nothing against Rotas, but my Chinese-manufactured Kazera "track wheels" are cheaper and stronger (low pressure casting + shot peened) and only marginally heavier than comparable Rota wheels.
It's no surprise Rota is getting its lunch stolen. China can make better Rotas for cheaper.

no. people seem to be missing that there is a HUGE difference between a replica and a counterfeit wheel.

It's not Like Rota ever called themselves VOLK RACING and said their wheel was a TE-37. There is a difference between a knockoff and a counterfeit. A counterfeit is worse because, not only are they using the design, they are using the brand name too.

I'm just wondering why the counterfeiters didn't assume Volk's identity instead of Rota's... I mean, if you are going to go through all the trouble...
