Default Using Tactrix and ECUflash to modify Cobb map

Hi I have a quick question.

I have a 2006 WRX running Cobb V1 Accessport stg 2 map for last 100k miles.

Recently, I had the secondary air injection system fail stuck closed, and the search began to remove the CEL's and rip the sir injection stuff out of the car.

I bought a Tactrix cable with the following plan:

1. Unmarry Accessport, returning to stock .
2. Read ROM file with ECUflash.
3. Disable the CELS in ECUflash.
4. Reflash modified ECU back onto car.
5. Install Cobb stage two map.
6. done.

I went carefully through all those steps. Took car out for a drive, and immediately threw same check engine light codes.

Now it got me thinking that maybe I could pull my Cobb stg 2 map off the car with the Tacrix, and modify THAT map and re-flash it to my car. I went ahead and reconnected the Tactrix and pulled the Cobb map off the car no problem. I disabled the CEL's and reloaded it to my car. It runs fine on Stage 2 hitting target boost with NO CELS's.

So my long winded question is... Why in the hell it didn't work the way I thought it would? And why was I able to pull and modify the Cobb map? thought that was not possible...

Will I have any issues with the functionality of the AccessPort now that I have used ECUflash to read the ROM and replace it with one with CELS disabled?

When you unmarry the AccessPort, it puts the stock program back on the car.

Then you modify the stock program, and re-write it to the car.

Then you re-marry the AccessPort, and reflash the Cobb map. When you do this step, you're OVERWRITING everything you just did in Step 2. Cobb's AP won't care what you do with ECM Flash/Tactrix, because as soon as you marry it to the car, it overwrites your stock factory program with a revised version and locks the ECM.

The best way to do this is talk to Cobb and see if they can turn off the particular CEL's in your tune, and then send it back so you can run it on the Accessport. The guys in the AP forum can probably get you in the right direction.

I have an original V1 Accessport so I was able to use Tactrix cable to turn off CELs on Cobb map.

v1 green screen accessport maps were not locked so you were able to read and write those maps using a Tactrix cable.
