Question Feedback on Subaru's Launch Control Series

Hey all,

I work with Subaru on their video series, Launch Control.

If you're unfamiliar with the series, it documents the ups-and-downs of the Subaru Rally and Rallycross teams in a documentary format. We've been posting new episodes to the front of NASIOC since Episode 1.

You can see the whole series here:

As a core Subaru enthusiast community I'd like to get NASOIC member feedback on the series so far. Specifically, I want to know your thoughts on the following:

- What is your current level of anticipation for new episodes? (see poll)
- Where are you watching the series most often? YouTube, Subiesport, Vimeo, iTunes, Roku or some other location?
- What's your favorite thing about the series so far?
- What your *least* favorite thing about the series so far?
- If you could change one thing about the series what would you change?
- Which storyline are you more interested in: Rally America (David Higgins) or Rallycross (Mirra, Lasek, Isachsen)
- Anything else you want to share?

Thanks for your time. I'll be reporting the results back to Subaru and the production team.

- Ryan Douthit

- most watched on youtube.
- Favorite thing is everything. Watching drivers drive. Mechanics work. Everything is shot and edited so well that it is all good.
- No least favorite.
- would only change it and make it more frequent, but with only a couple events a month and editing time its tough i understand.
- Most interested in Rally America. But the more i watch rallycross the more i get into it.
- keep up the great work. Editing is top notch. and credit is being given where it is due. the Vermont Rally guys put so much into these cars its great to see stuff about them./

- What is your current level of anticipation for new episodes? (see poll) I check nasioc everyday hoping there is a new episode
- Where are you watching the series most often? YouTube, Subiesport, Vimeo, iTunes, Roku or some other location? YT, subiesport
- What's your favorite thing about the series so far? anything to do with the rally team
- What your *least* favorite thing about the series so far? the rallycross team, and the sport in general. I don't know what it is about Bucky Lasek, but I am just not impressed by him. I feel like he is only able to be on the team because he has small notoriety and money. He just doesnt seem like a real driver. And in my opinion, I think the rallycross sport itself is a joke.
- If you could change one thing about the series what would you change? To add segments about the Subaru Road Racing Team
- Which storyline are you more interested in: Rally America (David Higgins) or Rallycross (Mirra, Lasek, Isachsen) Rally America.
- Anything else you want to share? Love the series, always anticipating the next episode.

^ All of this X2

Drew/Higgins seem like great hardworking guys who were made for this, whereas Bucky seems to have been given this job because of his previous accomplishments in xgames. Isachsen is the most interesting driver of the 3, but is probably highlighted the least. Seeing as how the general consensus is Rally America over Rallyx, I think the Rallyx team would benefit from new (worthy) drivers.

I do really enjoy the series and hope it continues.

The series is really awesome, every time i go to NASIOC homepage it's the first thing I'm looking for: is there a new one out today? The series has great production quality, editing, and storyline. Great job guys, and keep it up!

I thought Subaru canned their Road Racing team... Anyway, I think Higgins and Isachsen are great drivers!

- What is your current level of anticipation for new episodes? #4 - but essentially, when I notice it on the front page of NASIOC I go get it.
- Where are you watching the series most often? YouTube, Subiesport, Vimeo, iTunes, Roku or some other location? Subiesport - the NASIOC link drops me right into the page.
- What's your favorite thing about the series so far? The camera work is great, and the narrator is excellent. Really, the production is what keeps me coming back. It's top notch. This is the kind of show I'd expect to see on Discovery's channel Velocity.
- What your *least* favorite thing about the series so far? The performance of the Rallycross team, and the series in particular
- If you could change one thing about the series what would you change? Honestly, nothing that you have control over.
- Which storyline are you more interested in: Rally America (David Higgins) or Rallycross (Mirra, Lasek, Isachsen) Rally America, though I think Isachsen and the crew are the shinning light in the GRC segments.
- Anything else you want to share?I'd prefer if things focused on the Subaru Rally Team, and for Subaru to get involved in sports car racing. It think the Continental Tire Sports Car Series and Pirelli World Challenge series will really blow up in exposure when IMSA/ALMS and Grand Am merge into United SportsCar. It would be to Subaru's benefit to get the new WRX involved as a factory effort in more road racing series.

- 99% Subiesport.tv

- The production blew my expectations away. If I would have known the production of the series would be this good I would of donated when you guys were raising money to get it all started.

- If the episodes were longer I would be an especially happy camper.

- I really love that you guys mix it up with RA and GRC, however I usually find myself wanting more from each side since we get less when you cram them both in one episode. Also I'm sure it's apparent Isachsen is the most talented driver on the Subaru Puma GRC team, therefore I want to see much more of him and less of the two guys needed for marketing.

- Ultimately, Dave Higgins and the Rally America team. I would like to see more Isachsen as stated above though.

- The series has been wonderful in my opinion. The editing, shots, narrator, and progression is all marvelous. I hope this year opens the door to longer episodes next year!

- After watching that, I'm very excited to see future episodes. Very well done.
- Where are you watching the series most often? Honestly, this is the first time I've seen it. In the future YouTube will be my first choice.
- I enjoy all of it. Great job all around.
- I wouldn't complain if the episodes were longer. That being said, 8 minutes+ is still great.
- Can't say I'd make any changes off the top of head.
- Which storyline are you more interested in: Rally America (David Higgins)

I wonder if this series is here to gauge interest in subaru returning to WRC? We can only hope. Keep up the good work. I was at the GRC event in Atlanta. Can't wait to see the video of that one.

- Day of since episode 3
- YouTube
- I like the following of the ups and downs, showing that it's not all fun and games. Bad things happen and you have to try your best to overcome then.
- Time, obviously 10 - 15 minutes is a decent amount of time but still.
- More interviews with the crew and drivers. Hearing what they have to say.
- RA, even though I do like watching the GRC guys.
- Doing an excellent job. Can't wait to see the footage of the Subaru Challenge when it's on one of the next couple episodes!

This series is absolutely awesome in my opinion. I always look forward to the new episodes! The cinematography and editing are top-notch and as a subaru enthusiast I find the storylines intriguing. I always end up watching the episodes on Youtube because the subiesport video never works (android ohone or pc w/ google chrome)

I've been watching on Subiesport. I enjoy the SRT team alittl emore because thats the side I want to begin participating in. I would like to see a driving tip included in each episode. Maybe covering the scandinavian flick? or talking about left foot breaking? or talking about one of the systems on their car that's different from Stock set up like the anti=leg system. and for a side not, I really wish there was more subaru clothing and such avaliable.

- This is the first time I have heard of it, I now cannot wait for more!!!
- This thread, so youtube.
- That is shows what goes into it, how it is done, and how everything works (mechanical, prep, driving, etc)
- That it is WAY to short.
- It needs to be longer. The race is long, so show more footage.
- ALL
- The name is VERY misleading. I almost did not watch because it sounded like something showing off a Subaru designed Launch Control System for drag racing.

I watch the episodes when I see them posted on the front page of NASIOC.
I click through and watch them on Subiesport because of this.
I like the videography and quality of the series and the sort of behind the scenes stuff if shows.
The videos are too short and focus too much on the GRC.
Drop the GRC story, completely.
Rally America
I think the series is good, but Higgins and the RA crew is where my interests lie. The GRC thing is just a media hype thing and to me it seems kind of ridiculous. Mirra and Lasek are just PR stunts and have no real driving skill but have a wallet to back them and "look good" on TV. Isachsen is the only guy with any potential but honestly the whole GRC thing is just silly. Drop the GRC, make the episodes a wee bit longer and I'll be happy.
