Post auto cross questions

Apparently there is an auto x sunday the 21st. What time is it? Is there any safety equipment required? how much is the entry fee?

Thanks

Yes there is a sort-of auto-x at Firebird, (actually it is at the Bondurant skidpad) however this one isn't a real "competition". It is a test & tune, and you have to pay a little more for this one I am pretty sure it is $30 unless you pre-register. Here is a post from another local Bulletin-Board about the event.

Quote:
For your $30 you'd better bring plenty of tire!

Run groups are 55 minutes each with only 15 cars in each run group. The course will be around 30-40 seconds (one car each 15-20 seconds). We expect that folks will get in the range of 8-12 runs or more, depending on who gets " tired" :-) and drops out.

There are two sections, AM and PM, three groups in each. We will try to fill your first choice, but may have to go to a second choice (first come). We suggest that you plan on choosing from either AM or PM groups, and then your timeline will be close no matter which you get (like A or C, NOT A or D).

Projected run order below (from the entry form).

------------------------------------------------------------------

1st Choice Run Group (CIRCLE): A B C / D E F 2nd Choice Run Group: A B C / D E F

Run Group A (B works)…. 8:30 to 9:25 (or 10 runs or bald tires, whichever comes first)
Run Group B (C works)…. 9:30 to 10:25
Run Group C (A works)… 10:30 to 11:25
Lunch……..….………… 11:25 to 12:15 (There is supposed to be a snack stand on site)
Run Group D (E works).... 12:15 to 1:10
Run Group E (F works).... 1:15 to 2:10
Run Group F (D works).... 2:15 to 3:10

Hope this clarifies..........
The site that it is on is
www.autocrossing.com

they have pretty good info about auto-x in the valley. Also a couple of the guys who organize the Prescott Pro-Rally every year show up for the auto-x sometimes. They are trying to put together a rally-x series in the valley, so that should be really cool.

HUH intresting How much track time do you get for $30 dollars. I sorta need my tires I didn't realize they would wear so much in so little time. Why is the test and tune so much more than the regular season?

Thanks

Usually have to be there aound 7:30 or 8:00. You should bring a helmet if you have one. They do have loaners, but they can be sweaty by the end of the day. The entrance fees are either $20 or $25, can't remember right now (Old age sucks). It is always VERY fun. Good luck if you go. Red-Imp will give you a good run for your money.

I think it is more because of the amount of runs, normally 3-4 runs. So 8-12 would be real nice. Also they are limiting the entries to 90, regularly about 120-130 show up. As far as tires go, I couldn't even comment, I have never run so much before, it is possible he is refering to "R" tires that tend to use alot more tire up.

12 runs will take quite a bit of rubber off of stock tires. Red has run about 4 times that much and still has tread.....just not alot of it (Oh....and his tires have 15,000 miles on them as well).

Yeah I mean the PFBA. I have a Pewter 2000 WS.6. I would do both but, it is costing me 100 per car for the drag racing so I really want to get my money's worth...it's gonna be like the ultimate test and tune day...

Are you going to drive the Scoobie at the Dragstrip also?

I joined the PFBA because I had a 1987 IROC-Z with a ton of Mods. Unfortunalty it got stolen a year and a half ago. Go to the link to see the Specs. It was pretty awesome!

Nice car dude...My favorite car to date was my 92 25th Anneversary Camaro...so I know how much fun that body style is to drive. Sorry to hear it got stollen...oh and yes I will be racing the scubbie at the track that day...I am really curious to see what it can pull...I am shooting for 12.8 with the WS.6 and I hope that I can break into the 15's with the Scubbie...

Right On. I post occationally. I used to work at Exotic Muscle (Where Scott Works) and am still friends with the guys. If I had a dollar for every minute I spent working on Barth's Car (I did the Engine) I'd be rich!

I'm a full time Student at ASU and I work full time at Right Toyota selling cars.

My boss has a GS (Like bob's) that ran 10.60@134mph and he also has a 98 Vette that ran 11.7 at, get this, 136mph on street tires!!! The red car with some Slicks I think will pull 10.0's!

Eric

P.S. Scott hates his job and is looking to get another job

Yeah, and they're those rock-hard crappy stock RE-92s. But, somebody's about to sell me his somewhat used Yokohama A520s. Should last me an auto-X season or two. (Or maybe i'll just tear them up at the test-n-tune.
