Default buying a 2014 sti hatch or sedan?

Hello guys I am going to buy a 2014 sti hatch or limited sedan next week. I am new in the subaru/sti world.I would like to know what you guys think about the hatch and the sedan limited? Witch one is better. I drove both of them and both feel really nice and I really have a hard time picking. I have a built evo and planing to trade it in because I really like the new sti looks and interior. The new 2014 will be coming out next tuesday and I plan to get it right away.

Well if you want one now without ordering you will prob pay a good bit for one. If you want a deal you will most likely have to order one and wait for it.

As far as what you want, that's your opinion. Half will say sedan half will say hatch... I got a hatch bc I have a child and its easier for putting a stroller in and out of and I liked the look better.

I have owned a 2009 and 2011 Sedan and loved both. I like the looks of the sedan slightly better. I recently purchased the 2013 Hatch and love it now too. I was required to do this as we added a third member to our family that does not travel lightly. The only way to get strollers, car seats, cribs bags etc in was with a hatch.

Either way there are plusses and minuses to both. You have to be leaning one way slightly, go with what you think will be the most enjoyable and useful to you.

yeah iam planing to just buy one instead of ordering one and waiting for 8 weeks. what are the best brand of air intakes can get for it? Also any carbon lip brands that are pretty sick on the sti's? I'am planning not to go crazy like what I did with my evo. I am just going to do little mods and be done with it.

It's comes down to personal preference. I think the hatch looks better. My friends tell me they would have gotten the sedan. I tell them it's a good thing I didn't buy the car for them.

I really like the looks and utility of the hatch and sedan and think you should get one.

Dlessor1: yeah I am leaning on the hatch with navigation and leather. I really am so excited to get it next week. The sedan is so nice though they are about the same price its only couple hundred dollars difference between the hatch and limited sedan.

RoadkillMD:Lmao very true on the post

So you're going to drop close to 40K on a car and want internet strangers to tell you which is "the best" knowing they are damn near the exact same?

Buy a bus.

Do you need to put big things in the back? Get a hatch, if not.. well, sedan is ok i guess... if you're into that sorta thing. Personally, I think the sedan is ugly.

My hatch came in handy when I moved last month..and also when I take my bicycles somewhere.. and when I buy furniture or other big things.

Think of it this way, if it turns out not to be the right choice, which one would you regret the least?

Hatches look gross. They look like a hat or a high top shoe.

Sedans are the way to.go IMO. For me I don't have kids or a family so I don't need a family station wagon. If I did I'd have a forester or something. I wanted a fun DD so I bought the sedan.

Red T-shirt with blue jeans and doc martens.

What? Oh, you didn't ask a mundane question that was a personal preference for you and you alone and that nobody can help you with unless you had specific questions about dimensions, utility, or other things that could be found by testing both like you already did?
My mistake.

Also, with regards to your question on air intakes, please read:

"Best" is relative. And generally not something that the forum likes to answer. Again, everyone has their own opinion.

Your absolute best bet is to talk with your tuner. If you're not using a tuner, follow the map notes to a T.
But the stock intake on Subarus is really pretty good.

I didn't know people actually liked the sedans. I think the GR sedans got smashed by the ugly tree on the rear.

I just ordered the hatch, I don't mind the wing it's just that it would attract to much attention driving around every day. Also look of the hatch has grown on me. Still got friends that like the sedan more but it's my car.

The hatch is infinitely more versatile and just as capable. Why wouldn't you want more functionality when performance is equal between the two?

Also the hatch gets chicks. Now you may need to use some chloroform as well, but that's the best part, MASSIVE trunk space.

I struggled with the decision for months. The sedan is very sexy with that tall spoiler and the long, fast looks. But the hatch is so much more versatile. My first car was a piece of crap white Honda DX 5MT hatch, I loved that car so much and my 2014 STi hatch will be everything I always wished that car was.

I struggled very hard to choose between the two. Ultimately i knew that the sedan was 2k less and the extra storage space was never going to be used.
