Question School me please.

Sorry to sound like a newbie, but I am one. I worked with cars quite a bit a few years back, but apparently I have missed a few things. I need someone to explain to me what has gone on to change the RS over it's short life span. What is new today that wasn't on the original model, when was that, 98?
Does anyone have performance figures for them? What about the engine? What has changed? And why would they have changed it?

Actually, the engine has changed quite a bit. The MY98 was a dual overhead cam engine that was rated at 165hp/164ft/lb's. It redlined at 6,500 instead of 6,250rpm's

It had a completely different front bumper (no Big lights) and didn't have white faced gauges.

1999 had the new single over head cam and was rated at the same horsepower but gained 2 ft/lb's or torque. What's the point?

In 2000, the 2.5 Changed from a MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor to a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor. Not sure why they did that! Also, the Gold 5 spoke rims became silver narrow 6-spoke rims

In 2001 ugly CF trim and a CD player was standard on the 2.5, Oh, so were floor mats.

I'm sure there are other differences but I can't think of them

Eric

MY99 had silver 5 spoke wheels

MY00 got cruise control and a LSD standard as well.

Rumor is the clutches are better in 00 and 01 than 98-99, but I am not sure about that.

Yes, very lucky.
Back to my original post though. Does anyone have some baseline performance stats about the RS? What 1/4 mile times were you running? Trap speed? What about 0-60? Or skidpad results?
How do these stack up against say the 22b, or the V5?
I know they are alot better, just how much?

Lightbulb

Check this out: Subaru 1/4 Mile Registry. Also, search the general and powertrain forums for "1/4". There's been lots of discussion on these topics.
