Default Synthetic or regular on a new engine...

I am at about 1300 miles and I'm going to change my oil out. Do you guys and gals recommend synthetic or regular on the engine ? And if so, what brand and recommended weight. I know the book sas 5w-30 but just curious if anyone is running anything different.

I would run regular until you get at least 5,000 on the odometer. I myself run 10, 30 Mobil 1. I swithed to synthetic at 8,000 I believe.

Thanks,
I went and bought synthetic, then thought about the engine wear, and wanted to confirm before I went to exchange it...
