Default Bluetooth contacts with iphone

So I've done a bit of research on how to transfer my contacts to the headunit. So far I've come up with trying to sync my macbook and sending a vcard of all my contacts. Didn't work. The pc wouldn't connect to the phonebook, but would recognize it as an audio device.

Other option is to use my jailbroken iphone and find a bluetooth app that will allow file sending. So far I've found airblue but am skeptical if it will work.

Anyone had any luck sending over a vcard?

I don't know how much different my '12 radio is from yours, but it does not accept contact transfer. Even verified this in the manual. All contacts must be inputted manually or by adding a number from an incoming call you took in the car.

This is in the '12 2.0i Limited without navigation. If you have the nav, I apologize for butting in.

Default Download Contacts From e71 Nokia

I finally figured out how to download my contacts from my aging e71 Nokia to my 2012 Impreza Limited HD Radio. I had no problem pairing my phone with the Impreza, but could only get my contacts loaded by using the manual mode. This worked but incoming calls just showed the number and no caller ID. Anyway I figured out how to download the contacts from my phone and it works well. You have to do them one at a time, but I only loaded 20 or so of my most used contacts. The process is as follows: First, turn your key to the Aux position so that your radio is powered. Next push the steering wheel on button and then select phone book. Once selected select ADD CONTACT and then BY PHONE as the method. Go to you phone and highlight the contact you want to download. Select SEND, then BUSINESS CARD, then VIA BLUETOOTH, then CAR MULTIMEDIA or whatever unique name you gave your radio when you paired the phone. Once selected the phone will send the contact to your radio, the radio will announce the phone number and ask you to confirm. Once confirmed the radio will ask you to give the number a name. Follow the prompts and confirm the name. Now when one of the contacts you have downloaded calls your number, both the number and name will display on the radio display. This is how the e71 Nokia works and I am sure it would be similar for other cell phones as well. I will say the Impreza Bluetooth is a little hokey, but after a few weeks I have it working better than I experienced with other cars I have owned.

Hope my Nokia post helps some folks. Have to tackle the wife's iPhone 4 next. Don't think it's possible with the iPhone OS but maybe an App that can send files via bluetooth? Anyone have any success with the iPhone?

Couldn't find a way to do this on my iPhone 4 unfortunately.

Default iPhone

I have researched this extensively and have concluded there is no way to download contacts from an iPhone to the 2012 Impreza bluetooth head unit. There is nothing in the iPhone iOS or available App to provide this capability. There are phones that will allow you to download contacts one at a time (such as my Nokia e71), but after owning the car for about a month I now understand why Subaru does not allow downloading more than one contact at a time regardless of which cell phone you own. The reason is you must dictate a verbal name for each contact which takes almost as long as just manually entering the entire contact. What I ended up doing was just adding my top 10 or so contacts which probably covers 90% of my phone activity. The bluetooth works very well, better than any in several previous cars I have owned. Even at highway speed I get no complaints on voice quality. The icons showing signal strength and battery status are a nice bonus. There is nothing about this Impreza that I don't like.... it's great.

Is there anyway to have the name of your contact come up on the head unit when they call?

nope even with the name and number programed in they still dont come up. With the poor sound quality and these little details missing. I thought it was time to upgrade.

The name does come up on the head unit if you recorded a name for voice dialing. The number does not appear, just the name. In other words, if you recorded "Boss Office" to use for voice dialing your boss, "Boss Office" will appear on your head unit when the boss calls. Without recording a unique name for the numbers you have programmed, only the phone number will appear. I have a 2012 Limited Sedan with the HD Radio (no nav) and this is how it works in my car.

Is there any way to get the HU to display contact names or is it even possible for that matter? I have voice dialing set up already for certain contacts.
