Default Heatshield/downpipe problems... I need help quick!!

A couple days ago i started to hear a metal rattle when decelerating from 3k rpms I started to look around wiggled some things. And noticed my turbo heatshield was really loose so i took it off.I started my car let it sit for a minute and checked to see if i could hear the sound...and it was still there. Then I saw one of my downpipe bolts was just sitting in there with no nut or anything it just came right out. I am thinking the rattle sound is the small gap that is notconected becuase of this bolt. I am want to drive to the hardware store and get a nut. Is it safe for me to drive over there and get one i probably have been for a couple days now but i dont want to push anything. And can i leave my heatshield off or is heatsoak that bad? Thanks

If youre fersure it's a rattle from under by the dp area and not coming from the turbo or the motor then you're fine to drive it to the store.

As long as you can't move the downpipe around with your hand then your fine to drive it.

Also, the factory heat shielding is there for no other reason to inconvenience / annoy anyone who works on their own car. Take it out. All of it. Maybe get a turbo blanket if you're still top-mount or some DEI wrap for the top 1/3rd of the downpipe but other than that... Take out as much as you can.

Heatshields are essential.

I think I figured it out my heatshield was really loose only 2 bolts held it on so I took it off and now there is no more noise. I might buy a new heat shield or get some sort of wrap

Definitely not all of them. My IATs don't miss them that's for sure.

When i did my invidia downpipe i added a downpipe blanket and just hacked the heck out of my stocker and SPT heat shield. I think the combo does well but a turbo blanket would be better
