Default Oil Cooler - $399

Vivid Racing is now offering a VR Oil Cooler for your New Age Subaru Impreza WRX. Unlike the $1800 STI kit this will be retailed at only $399 to start for the first 10 kits.

The kit will include the cooler, steel braided lines, hose fittings, sandwich adapter, mounting kit, and a full pictured instruction booklet.

The oil cooler is designed to extend the life expectancy of your engine due to over heating oil. The cooler will lower temperatures thus allowing the car to run a bit better at higher boost pressures. We recommend the oil cooler as a good accessory for the daily driver and racing enthusiast.

Delivery time is 2-3 weeks after Group Buy Closes. If you have any questions about the product, please contact us directly.

We accept all major credit cards and paypal. If you would like one please paypal $425 SHIPPED to us at dan@vividracing.com and reference part number VROILCLR.

Thanks

Here is the $1600 STI one for comparison. Both do the same job!

Thumbs up

Hi Dan,

Me again, I'm interested can I get a peak at the install instructions? As usual I'm concerned about fit with regard to my FMIC piping.

Cheers - Greg

Does it have an oilstat? Can it be placed in the stock TMIC location? And about how much more oil will the unit hold?

Greg,
this will fit ALL FMIC including the MRT. It goes up against the AC condensor and will fit fine with the amount of room between each!

As far as how much oil it will hold, it will use the same amount, 4.5 to 5 quarts total.

Vivid, a few questions:

Could you post the dimensions of the cooler itself? I just want to make sure I have the space because I have a tranny cooler near the AC condensor.

With the sandwich adapter, do we get to use the stock oil filter or do we have to use a different size?

Any fitment or modications required with mounting the sandwich? Will it be clear of the header?

thanks in advance,

joe

How would this compare to going with a Setrab, Mocal, or GReddy unit?

Will it fit a GC8, YES! Same filter specifications and cooler can fit without any problems.

Goodfinder - BTW give me a email when you can....

Compared to the others not sure as they do not have a Subaru specific, but all said, using stainless lines, and good cooler and all inclusive hardware for easy mounting I would say DARN good.

Vivid,

Does this kit include an oilstat or does it flow oil to the cooler 100% of the time?

Will you sell just the oil filter sandwich seperately? I already have a high end radiator with ANR fittings and stainless hose. email personally if you like.

Thanks

Thumbs down What a ripoff.

$425 shipped? HAH! What a friggin' ripoff! That's basically a B&M universal core that you're using and some stainless braided hoses with fittings. You can buy a B&M cooler, that actually BIGGER in size for about $75, and get some stainless braided hoses and Earl's fittings for another $35 or so. With that, you can make your own cooler that's better for cheaper. I don't understand why people would actually pay that much for this crap.

Your comments are much appreciated and others will take them into consideration.

The STI oil cooler which is similar cost about $1500. The parts that we use are not B&M and the actual cost of the complete kit is much greater then $100...MUCH greater.

Of course alot of people do like to make things so good luck and we would all love to see pictures of yours.

That is a very well stated response. If people want to make thier own kit, then good luck to them. I as well would like to see what people come up with. But all in all this is a great alternitive to the STI kit.

Default more pics?

I think that if there were pictures of an installed system, then it would make this package much more appealing. I think that there are a lot of people interested, but are a bit afraid of what the installation may entail.

From what I have gleaned, the installation does not look much more complicated than the installation of a catch can (except for the fact that you have to drain all your oil, and may have to remove the front bumper and possibly the radiator).

I vaugely recall a photo of a similar, installed unit in the latest Hyper Rev Impreza parts catalogue.

If it installs like the STi one then what about us FMIC guys? Do we just get shafted again?
