When can or should wax my new WRX

I thought I remember that one is suppose to let a new cars paint age a bit before waxing it.

Anyone have a definite answer on when to do that first wax job ....

wait approx 60-90 days for the paint to cure, not sure how long your car was sitting but typically with honda's they have already sat long enough to be waxed by the time they are sold

Yeah, I didn't wax my car til 4 months after. But according to a detailer I know, you can wax it as soon as you get it home...don't know how true that is but I waited anyway

Check the build date on your car by looking inside the door. If it's more than 3 months old, go ahead and wax it.

The old 90 day rule is more applicable to old solvent based paints. All the finishes on cars today are fully cured when they leave the factory.

Never wax it just wash it with sand

Most dealers wax it from the factory when they deliver the car to you don't they?

Yes, but dealer wax sucks, and they make a mess of things (some do). My black WRX wagon looks HORRIBLE when I picked it up. Swirl marks, etc.. from the dealer. The saleman even said, humm, let me run it through the car wash again, it just doesn't look done.

I just said no politly and drove off, but made sure the dealer sticker came off the tailgate before I left the lot.

The Impreza is made in Japan. It takes a while to get them here, and then they sit. So, I washed/waxed my car as soon as I got it home, with good stuff. I'd suggest you do the same.

Pretty much my experience with every car I have bought. They try and buff the car in less than 5 minutes, and it just looks like crap.

My car was already a month and a half old when I took it with 7 miles!

I was just saying dealers do that so you really dont have to wait to wax it 90 days or anything

I know, I just wanted to share my experience with crappy dealer service

I agree, dont have to wait that long!

I did it after a month... not because of some waiting "rule" but because I wax my car once a month

I try to wash it once a week and wipe it off more often than not once a day (warm water or quick detailer).
