Default Just installed my boost gauge and it says my stock wrx is running 20PSI@5k !?

I installed my Autometer Cobalt Boost Gauge today and at 5000rpm it reads 20psi.

I did not tap the T-fitting into the hose running from the BOV(subaruparts.com instructions), but tapped into a hose running to the manifold instead(recomended by a fellow i-clubber)

I did not yet connect the dashlight wire (white).

I also have an HKS BOV(don't know if that has anything to do with it)

Are any of these reasons the cause for the 20psi read?

Hey i got your IM... I am not sure exactly what is going on. I know the stock BOV vents back into the intake.... but i don' think this would be a huge problem. You still have the stock boost controller? Because this is set, i believe, at 7 psi. What does your gauge read at idle? Mine reads about 17 inHG (vaccum). At least you know you don't have a leak... you couldn't hold pressure if you did. hmmm....You might want to post this in Factory Forced Induction. If i can think of anything... i will im you.

Stock the wrx runs just over 14 psi. (1 bar)

Like jfalcon posted... whats the gauge read at idle? If the car is stock except for the the guage, you might want to check that.

You should not be spiking out at 20 consecutively. THat can actually do damage.

Try tapping into your BOV. This is a more reliable source. I know some might argue with this but I've found it to read correct boost.
Good luck
