Default Heater works, only under acceleration.

Hi Guys. About a month ago car started leaking from edges of the radiator. I just replaced it and got it going again. Now a couple weeks later I have a new issue. If I turn the heater on, it will blow cold (just normal temp, not AC cold) while at idle or at low cruising speed (neighborhood). But when I am accelerating or at a good speed cruising the car will blow hot air as normal.

Is this a sign the heater core is going out? if not what else may it be? Thanks so much

Are you having overheating issues since? Sounds like it could possibly need burped or bled. Sometimes you'll get air pockets in the cooling system and that can happen. I'd pull radiator cap ( over fill cap if sealed radiator) and let it idle till tstat opens and it should burp air out. If still trouble after that, make sure lines are clean and replace tstat cause it might be sticking. My experience with heater cores, however limited it may be, is they will leak when going out, and/or it'll fog windshield. I'd bet its either air in coolant system, or 2nd would be tstat sticking
