Cool Interesting

Hey Newbie, please describe what you've got there. Got any pics of the pod pre-install, how about during install. What's the pod made out of? Made it, or bought it? Tell us more, its real different!!! Rosco

Ya, I'll second what Rosco said. I've been looking to mount a gauge on the steering column, do you have a pic that is straight on like you would be looking at it from your seat?

Sorry guys I dont have any pre install picts of this pod. I had a custom stereo installer friend refabricate the stock clock housing and put the gauges onto it. That way it uses the exact mount points and as well the seams are the same. Its primarily bondo and then gel coated with epoxy and fiberglassed. Then painted to match the factory dash color. I could have wrapped it but liked the shine a little more.

I did'nt like the look of the Defi pod and as well they did not face the driver. Now they all face me straight on and still looks stock but custom.

The gauges are Defi BF the controller is in the glove box. Mounted to the top.

That pict is sitting in the drivers seat. I retained the same mounting holes from the stock Boost gauge. The gauge is a bit larger that the stock gauge but I can still read the RPM fine ( as seen in the pict). I do have the seat height adjusted to let me see it better though. I rarely use the RPM anyway I do it all by sound for the most part.

too bad Defi doesn't make a BF A/F gauge like the nice D-Series one pictured above
Has anybody seen the new Knocklink and LambdaLink gauges? They look pretty neat.

Just wondering where you mounted your ps2? Did it require a lot of cutting and work? If you have pics of it, please show them! thanks!

The PS2 is under the driver seat, so you can easily reach it to change DVDs. It is not permanently installed so I can take it out to use at home. The inverter and A/V jacks are in the luggage area. I have a false floor in the back where the amp and the subs are.

Callin out Mattjk or anyone wih a gauge in te air vent. I hate the vent on the left of the steering wheel, it always seems to make my hands cold so i just close it off. Howd you install your gauge there? And how do you shut off circulation to that vent? any cutting required? Anyone's help would be appreciated.

Default 2 gauges in dash pod

i would like to put 2, not 3 guages, in the OEM dash pod for a 2002 wrx.

i just want turbo and oil pres. i do not have an aftermarket up-pipe so i dont want an EGT gauge, and dont want to risk messing up my warranty my tapping the stock up-pipe.

so... has anyone made a faceplate, or have pics of 2 gauges in an OEM dash pod? as always, thanks in advance!

In the event you don't get a response, have you thought of a cheap alternative for the 3rd gauge (i.e. volt meter or clock)? There's other important/useful gauges if price is not an issue such as oil temp. Just thought I'd throw that out there as an alternative.

I fabricated my own faceplate to fit 52mm gauges. I wasn't happy with some of the other set-ups where I saw where the gauges were sticking too far out of the housing. I'm not entirely happy with the hex bolts I used to fasten the plate in place, or the brushed aluminum finish (...but it's growing on me). Also, there are some small gaps in the corners that I didn't account for. When I find time I'm going to cut a new piece of aluminum using my old plate as a frame of reference. I'm thinking of going with a clean (no bolts) look and fasten the plate from behind.

Unless you want to spend the time doing your own, I'd suggest buying the extra gauge if you can. This way you can use any of the available aftermarket faceplates. I already posted a pic of my set up previously, but here it is again:

I'm not sure if this helps you in any way.

Regards,
Kean

i am ordering the omoris. i just think its a bit much to spend an additional $170 on a gauge to be a place holder.

what is the best material to use for the faceplate, to match either the dash or the silver plastic inserts? i will make my own and post pics if i ever get it to look good.

peace...

I found some small aluminum sheets @ a local hobby shop (=<1/8" thick I believe). I wanted something strong enough so it wouldn't flex too much after I started cutting holes in it. It worked well.
