Post RallyCross in AZ Apr 1!!!!

We are still in negotiations for our location for the April 1 event. We are one month away, but it WILL happen. Many things are going on behind the scenes to secure a permanent home for us, with room to grow, and do some really fantastic things (read coef 2 and rallysprints). I hope to have more news in the next few days as to a location and schedule. Here is what we are planning so far:

2 run "groups", one in the morning and one in the afternoon. AM tech will start at 0800, FCO 0900. We will have a PM tech if needed and go from there. This is the first RallyX in AZ history as far as we know, and it will be a building year for us. We expect the course to be simplistic in layout while maintaining technicality, so we can work everything out.

Entry fee is still unknown, but we are targeting $25.00. This will get you 4 runs, with possible time only's in the afternoon. We don't expect a huge crowd out our first time, so you may really get your money's worth!!!

Bill

Cool. I'm there for the PM group. Any chances of doing Saturday events? Are coef 2 and rallysprints head to head races?

Everyone here should check this out, especially if you auto-x, it's really fun. I know Bud will be there.

we'll have to see about the Sat event with the location, but it shouldn't be an issue. Right now we only have 3 planned for this year, but if this one goes well it could be a monthly thing... attendance is what will decide that.

Coef 2 and rallysprints are for prepped cars only... they are mini rally's

Is that hint for tire choice, or for location?

Motocross dirt, eh? That will be very nice. No rocks or nasty drops/yumps. Are we allowed to run snow tires?

Hey Mike, what kind of flaps did you get and how much? I have a little rally-x experience, and I know of one other person here as well...

I actually ordered 4 sheets of Low Density Polyethylene.
This is the page describing what I ordered.
Mud Flap Material

All Rally cars are required to have Mud Flaps. The main reason is to protect spectators from showers of mud and stones. They also protect your vehicle from the same thing. Used strategically under your vehicle, you can protect vital parts from damaging stone-blast.

We carry two materials suitable for Mud Flaps or for protecting other areas of your vehicle's undercarriage. The LDPE may last for several events and the Urethane should last for a couple seasons. The Urethane is naturally more flexible than the LDPE and remains so in cold weather.

Economy Mud Flaps, Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE),
1/8 x 12 x 18 in White only. $5.50 Each
$20.00/Four

Sheet LDPE, White only, 1/8, 1 1/2 square foot minimum,
6 modules only. $3.70/Sq. Ft.

Urethane Mud Flaps - 1/8 x 12 x 18 in Red, Black or Blue. This is the same material used by the top US, Asian and European rally teams. $18.00 Each
$68.00/Four

Sheet Urethane, Red, Black or Blue, 1/8, 1 1/2 square foot minimum, 6 modules only. Other restrictions may apply based on what we have in stock. $12.00/Sq. Ft.

What do you think?

Mike

The LDPE ones would probably last for quite a while. If it says they last a couple of rally events, that means about 50 hard hrs on them whereas one rally-x puts about 10 mins total, at least the events I've been to. The price is right too, even if you get them precut. I suppose if you wanted to drive in the cold or did this a lot, you could get the urethane.

Are you using the templates found on the Ravensblade site to make them? If not, here's the link: http://members.nbci.com/_XMCM/northu...ifications.htm

I've been wanting to do this, but I'm just lazy. If we get a rally-x season, I probably will.

I'm either going to have to get some new tires AND wheels or put the rather balding RE92's back on the stock wheels.

Woo-hoo!! That is so cool. You can bet I will be there. I just ordered my ultra-high-zoot-go-really-fast-in-the-dirt mud flaps. Now I just need to get ahold of a rear diff protector.

Bill, you had mentioned something about a website for AZ Rally-x. Any news?

I am ready for some monster 4 wheel burnouts in dirt.

I may not get the best times, but you know I am going to be trying to get the biggest rooster tails from my RS

you won't need any of that serious protection stuff.. hopin to get the surface to be pure dirt. The site will be rallycrossusa.com, but is still not up. It's kinda low on the list right now, but should be done before the event...

Saturday would be cool by me too, but (as you all know) it's very hard for me to make way up North on weekdays. Did I give something away there, Bill?

HEHE, Bud does seem to have some kind of psycho sense of where we are working the deal... OK, OK.... It's Speedworld. Nothing is firm yet, but it looks real good. I took a tour of the place a few days ago, and MAN!!! they have a crapload of land...

Aaron, if this goes well we may be able to have monthly (or so) events, and would probably move to a Sat. Again, attendance is what will decide how many events we have (as of right now) so spread the word!!! ALL dirt competitors are also invited (buggies, dwarfs, trucks, etc) We'll have special classes for them if enough show up. We're even toying with an Impreza class if you want one...

Ok, so where is this speed world??

Also do you have to work the other 1/2 of the event?? This would mean that I might be able to do it for alot less $$.

Speedworld is way on the west side. (www.speedworldmotorplex.com) It will be a run work event, but not sure if the run work will be AM-PM or AM-AM and PM-PM. Not too sure how the rallycross then 1/4 mile would go, they may not like all the dirt on the track... It's not gonna be a done deal till next week, so no flyers yet, but I will make an announcement on Sunday about it.
