In Boston areas of colleges, that's the breaks, man.

It ain't new. When dating my now wife, I parked on Hemingway St, in the area of Northeastern. One day, all the driver side mirrors on every car were broken including mine. I was also in college and had a POS car just to get me to my co-op job. Once the job was done, the car was gone too.

Your choices are very clear.

1) Get a pos car
2) Have no car and sign up with Zip Car for when you actually need a car
3) Move to Hopkinton (although then your night life will become watching the local farm and waiting for the sheep and goats to break through the fence to stand in the road, bringing the entire Hopkinton police force to move the violating animals). If you move here, your choice of car, if you don't want to be an outcast consists of Range Rover Sport, S4 and C350. That's what most high school seniors drive.

Once a year, we get over 50,000 visitors. They hang out for a couple hours, get bored and are so bored, they run away. They all run away and don't stop running till they drop.....or until they run into Boston Harbor.

^^ This. I don't have a clue. FWIW I was is Boston a few weeks ago. You couldn't pay me enough to live there. That city is a pisshole as most "urban" areas are which is why I live in teh burbs.

Get a garage spot.

I know you guys are just rustling jimmies but I am well aware of the consequences of parking in Boston (it's an assigned spot btw) near college kids and have been looking casually for a new spot since I got the new car.

I was just pissed off last night (and a bit drunk :P) and venting and looking to see if I actually had any options (pretty sure I have no legal options). When I found the dent/broken beer bottle on my last car they gave me a month free of rent. I'm moving spots though - I found a garage spot in a nice neighborhood - quite a bit more money obviously and a bit further of a walk but whatever - the peace of mind will be worth it.

But the red flags here are you're parked behind a building and right next to where a bunch of college students live. You need to get a spot away from their living area. Doesn't matter what you drive, they don't give a **** and as long as you're right next to their little hang out spot the crap is gonna continue. I've seen people at my college crowd around their own cars with their friends who usually end up using the car next to them as a bench or lean on it while they smoke and do whatever.
This is basically it - I know it has nothing to do with me - I've never met any of these people and it's not personal - they are just stupid college kids that don't give a ****. I knew what I was getting into and am paying for it now - anyways, I'm getting out of there to somewhere safer.

I live in Boston, just graduated college. Had someone break into my car a month after buying it. Find somewhere further away to park that is safer and walk. The safe streets exist, just find them.

When I was in college I went outside one morning to find that somebody had pushed my motorcycle over on its side. Gas had leaked out of the gas cap and ruined the paint on the tank. The motorcycle cover was stuck to it and was ruined as well. Real pissah.

Unfortunately, the world is chock-full of people who just don't give a damn. Or in this case, maybe they were jealous that somebody had a motorcycle and they didn't. So they acted out.

At least in your case (OP), you can pretty much see who the culprits were.

Fortunately, you have sites like this and Facebook on which to do so...

When I was living with my parents after getting out of the military I had an rx8 and the neighbors were going through a divorce and the daughter was starting to act out. Came out to go to school one day and my car was covered in shaving cream and tampons... Called the cops and filed a report the mom gave me a $100 for a detail. Thankfully no issues with my new car so far.

It's possible that your insurance could cover some of this... However, it's possible that calling them in could increase your rates. Have you thought about reporting this to the police as vandalism? That could help your case in the event that you DO eventually need to have your insurance company cover repairs.

its tough... while I was in college my motorcycle got kicked over twice. Lucky for me I had garbage plastics on it. Every since I moved off campus I refuse to live in a place with out a garage.

I'm kinda surprised no one has said to get an alarm yet?

There are inexspensive surveilence system you could get and mount inside your car that capture 360 view around the car. Im pretty sure as well that they can be mounted to where no one knows they are on camera, then when the aholes fk with your car again you have them on camera go to police with the tape and there you go LOL

OP, I feel for ya.

My WRX is kept in the garage now.

I had a '98 OBS which was modified and kept really nice before. I parked it outside in the driveway. One night around 2am, I was just going to bed and heard a loud thump. I checked the garage thinking something fell.

I then looked outside and someone threw a full beer can at my garage door. I then immediately looked at my car and found a glass bottle broken on the ground by it. Two other beer cars had been thrown at the house too.

Here's the kicker! I walked out in the street (dead end) and saw a cop go up the street to lock the gate. Another car was coming down.. and something just told me it was them... bunch of high school kids, 5-6 crammed in the car, so I stood out in the street in stopped it. ANOTHER cop comes up the street, so I move to flag him down and the kids drive around me, half in my neighbor's grass to speed away.

I tell the cop what happend and he says they were looking for a tan car..... which literally just sped away. They were cornered on a dead end street in between two cops. NO COMMUNICATION on their part. They got away.

Funny thing was, when they threw the bottle at the car, it must have it the ground first because the top was scraped like it hit the ground. It then hit the glass headlight and broke the bottle, not the headlight. There wasn't a scratch on my car and was complete luck. The garage door was ok too.

Idiots though. Everyone involved. Partially including myself if standing in the street to stop the car.

If you have your ccw permit, I would just wait for them. Let them throw that first bottle and pull a gun on em. Call the cops and say they tried to hit you but hit the car instead. Either way, they'll be screwed. You don't mess with another mans ride. At least where im at.
